Justice Bobde will take oath as the 47th CJI on November 18. Nagpur-born Bobde takes oath at a time when there is a debate, often a polarising one, about dangers to freedom of speech, a fundamental right guaranteed under Article 19 of the Constitution and which has been zealously protected by the SC over last four decades since the Emergency.
