"Godzilla Ramen": Taiwanese Restaurant's Bizarre Dish Shocks Internet

Anything strange cannot avoid going viral on the internet in the era of social media. An unusual and odd dish made by a Taiwanese restaurant recently gained popularity due to one particularly bizarre ingredient.

According to the Taiwan News, a restaurant in Douliu City, Yunlin County, debuted its "Godzilla" ramen, featuring crocodile meat as its main ingredient.

The news portal further said that "Godzilla" ramen, which is prepared by steaming or braising the front leg of a crocodile.

In a clip, a young female customer samples both flavours and describes the dish as surprisingly delicious.

Watch the video here:

The woman in the video claimed that the dish's braised meat tastes like pork feet, while the dish's steamed version tastes like chicken. The owner of the restaurant learned to prepare the hot "witch soup" while visiting Thailand, and it is said that the soup contains over 40 different spices.

This is not the first time a dish from Taiwan has gone viral due to its offbeat ingredient.

Last month, a Taipei ramen restaurant started topping bowls of noodles with huge isopods, a mystifying 14-legged deep-sea creature, and pictures of the dish are going viral on social media all over the world.

The name of the restaurant is Ramen Boy Noodle Bar, which is situated in Taipei's Zhongshan district.

The restaurant enthusiastically announced the limited-edition dish in a post on its official Facebook page, noting first that it had "finally gotten this dream ingredient! The enormous isopod is known as "the big king pods."

"Knew Dhoni Would Bat Ahead Because...": Muralitharan On 2011 WC Final

Former India captain MS Dhoni's decision to bat ahead of an in-form Yuvraj Singh in the 2011 ODI World Cup final against Sri Lanka turned out to be a game-changer. Knowing the Muttiah Muralitharan challenge that awaited the Indian team, Dhoni told the then-India coach Gary Kirsten that he plans to promote himself in the batting order. The rest, as they say, is history. More than a decade after the final, Muralitharan has opened up on the episode, sharing his opinion on why Dhoni did what he did that day.

In a chat during the ODI World Cup 2023 schedule announcement show, the Sri Lanka legend revealed that he already knew Dhoni would promote himself over Yuvraj Singh because of the experience he had playing against him in the Indian Premier League. For the unversed, Dhoni and Muralitharan were teammates at Chennai Super Kings at one stage.

"I knew because Yuvraj (Singh) was not very comfortable playing me, although he was the best player in World Cup at that time, middle-order number four position. I knew because I was bowling a lot against him (Dhoni) in the nets in Chennai while playing in the IPL.

"So Dhoni knew how to play me very well. So I thought he didn't want to give any wickets to me because I was wicketless despite bowling well," the iconic spinner revealed.

Having faced Muralitharan a number of times in the nets, Dhoni was best accustomed to tackle the tricky spinner's challenge.

"There was a lot of dew at that time and we couldn't spin the ball much. Gambhir was there at the other end, so when we got the wicket, definitely I knew he will come because he knows how to play me very well as I've played for Chennai (Super Kings)," Murali further revealed.

China Deliberately Engineered Coronavirus As "Bioweapon": Wuhan Researcher

A researcher in Wuhan has claimed that China deliberately engineered coronavirus as a "bioweapon". The explosive claim was made by Chao Shan in an exclusive interview with Jennifer Zeng, a member of the International Press Association, who provides first-hand information and unique insights about China and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Mr Chao said he and his colleagues were tasked with identifying the most effective strain for spreading among various species, including humans. The full interview has been posted by Ms Jennifer on her blog.

She has also posted a video on her Twitter handle where the human rights activist describes what Mr Chao, a researcher at Wuhan Institute of Virology, told her.

Ms Jennifer's blog mentions that the interview was conducted in September 2021. She said that Ms Chao was given four strains of coronavirus by his superior in Nanjing City in 2019 to test which one of them was the most virulent and transmissible.

Mr Chao tested the virus on human ACE2 receptor, bats and monkeys.

Mr Chao also called the coronavirus a "bioweapon".

He also mentioned in the 26-minute interview that several of his colleagues went missing during the 2019 Military World Games in Wuhan. Later, one of them revealed that they were sent to hotels where athletes from various countries were staying to "check the health or hygiene conditions". Since checking hygiene doesn't require virologists, Chao Shan suspected that they were sent there to spread the virus.

However, commenting on Mr Chao's claims, Ms Jennifer said that it is just a small piece of the entire puzzle.

So far, the true origin of the pandemic that has caused nearly 7 million deaths worldwide, or even more, is still under exploration.

Watch: India Coach Stimac Shown Red Card For Argument At SAFF Championship

The SAFF Championship clash between India and Kuwait in Bengaluru witnessed several ugly brawls with on Tuesday. India coach Igor Stimac was sent off following argument with the match officials and Kuwait players. That was not all as two players, one each from India and Kuwait, were also sent off due to ugly fouls. This was the second time in the 2023 edition of the SAFF Championship that Stimac was sent off from the ground. Earlier, he was shown a red card during a match against Pakistan. Tuesday's match against Kuwait ended in a 1-1 draw. Both teams are in the semi-finals but India finished second in the points table.

Stimar first received a yellow card for disrupting play. Then he was sent off for having a go at the match officials. Stimac engaged in an animated argument with match officials and was eventually flashed a red card in the 81st minute.

But the harsh moments did not end there as India's Rahim Ali and Kuwait's Al Qallaf were sent off. The melee ensued after Qallaf pushed down India's Sahal Abdul Samad in the 84th minute and Rahim, in turn, pushed the Kuwait player to the ground. After that there was not enough time for either side to force a result.

Sunil Chhetri worked his magic but India had to split points with Kuwait after an acrimonious 1-1 draw in their last group match in the SAFF Championship on Tuesday. Chhetri had put India on the road to victory with an injury-time strike in the first half but an own goal by Anwar Ali in the added time of the second half spoiled the home side's march. This was also the first goal India conceded in nine matches.

The result meant that India and Kuwait ended up on seven points but the latter topped Group A on better goal average.

India will play Lebanon in the semifinal while Kuwait will take on either Bangladesh or Maldives.

Already qualified for the semifinal, both India and Kuwait pressed forward from the whistle, giving some entertaining moments.

Viral Pic Shows Match Fee Of India's 1983 World Cup Winning Team

India engraved their name in the history of cricket with an empathetic win in the 1983 ODI World Cup. The Kapil Dev-led team defeated the mighty West Indies by 43 runs in the summit clash and made the 25th June an immortal date. The entire world celebrated the 40th anniversary of India's 1983 triumph on Sunday as all the fans and players took a trip down the memory lane and relived those golden moments. Talking about old days, a picture is getting viral on social media, showing the match fees and daily allowance given to the India team during the 1983 World Cup.

The total payment which was made to all the players, including the manager was Rs 2100, which consisted of the match fee of Rs 1500 and a daily allowance of Rs 600.

Earlier on Sunday, former West Indies skipper Clive Llyod, who was on the losing end in the final of the competition, said that the result was something that the sport benefited from.

"Bowling India out for 183 was a very good effort, and on most days, we would easily chase this score down. But for cricket, however, it was a great result. It helped Indian cricket turn into something fundamentally different and world cricket, too, benefitted from this turnaround," he said on in an interaction on Backstage With Boria.

"Even when we beat the Indians convincingly in the winter of 1983, we knew that it was only a matter of time before they became a cricketing superpower. The self-belief the World Cup victory had given Indian cricket had little parallel. It was great for your cricket," he added.

The West Indies entered the finals as the favoured, having won the previous two world cups in 1975 and 1979. They finished first in their group with five victories and one defeat, the loss coming against India. They had thrashed Pakistan by eight wickets in the semi-finals.

India defied all sorts of expectations and odds to clinch their first-ever World Cup title. An underdog story to the core, it is a tale retold to every generation with pride. It is an event that triggered the massive cricket craze that has the country in its grip to this day and was perhaps the first step of India's rise in cricket as a superpower. The image of a smiling 'Haryana Hurricane' Kapil Dev holding the silverware still is the crown jewel of Dev's legendary legacy and Indian cricket's history.

Netflix Slammed Over Insensitive New Show Tweet After Submersible Tragedy

Streaming giant Netflix has been slammed by the netizens for dropping the trailer of its new documentary, The Deepest Breath on Twitter, just days after the Titan Submersible imploded, killing all five onboard.

Netflix's latest documentary is about Alessia Zecchini, who holds a world record in freediving. The trailer did not go down well with the netizens and they criticised the OTT giant's move to release the trailer at the wrong time.

A Twitter user wrote, "I'm not sure this is the best show to advertise during the Titanic submarine thing."

Another user wrote, "Probably not the best-timed tweet you've ever done."

A third added: "Wow epic timing, and not in a good way. Who decided this was going up?"

Watch the trailer here:

Meanwhile, a "catastrophic implosion," such as that believed to have destroyed the Titan submersible, would have happened with incredible force and speed gave the crushing water pressure on the floor of the ocean.

The remains of the Titanic rest on the seabed in the North Atlantic at a depth of some 3,800 meters (12,400 feet).

At sea level, atmospheric pressure is 14.7 pounds per square inch (psi).

The Titan, built by OceanGate Inc. of Everett, Washington, was designed to sustain the extreme water pressure at the depth of the Titanic and had made previous dives to the wreck.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to India Sunday night after his six-day visit to the US and Egypt during which several landmark agreements were signed.

PM Modi was received at the Delhi airport by Union Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakashi Lekhi and BJP chief J P Nadda. BJP leaders and party MPs from Delhi such as Harsh Vardhan, Hans Raj Hans and Gautam Gambhir were also present.

Later, in Washington DC, he was given a red-carpet welcome at the White House by President Biden. The two leaders held a historic summit on Thursday, followed by PM Modi's address to Congress and a State Dinner hosted at the White House by the Bidens in his honour.

The visit was marked by several major deals to boost cooperation in key areas such as defence, space and trade.

Before Mercenary Group's Mutiny Russia Faced 2 Big Revolts

After the rebellion launched by the Russian mercenary group Wagner against Moscow, AFP looks back at the previous biggest threats survived by the Kremlin since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.

Failed coup of 1991

In August 1991, four months before the collapse of the Soviet union, president Mikhail Gorbachev survived a failed attempt by Communist hardliners to seize power to prevent the signature of a treaty granting a large degree of autonomy to the 15 republics that made up the USSR.

Gorbachev was on holiday at his dacha in Crimea when he was taken prisoner there by the KGB, the Soviet secret police, on August 19. Troops and tanks were also deployed on the streets of Moscow.

Over the next three days, tens of thousands of people took to the streets to defend Russian democracy.

The resistance centred on the White House, the parliament building in Moscow, which became a symbol of opposition to the putsch.

Boris Yeltsin, the newly elected president of the Russia republic -- the USSR's largest -- led the fightback, famously addressing crowds atop one of the tanks that surrounded parliament.

Within two days the coup had petered out and Gorbachev returned to Moscow a day after it ended, but the episode undermined his influence and made Yeltsin the dominant leader.

Within a few months, Soviet republics began declaring independence.

Parliamentary revolt of 1993

Two years later, between September 21 and October 4, 1993, Yeltsin found himself at the centre of an even bigger crisis, when hardline Communist and nationalist deputies led a bloody revolt that ended with tanks attacking parliament.

The rebellion erupted after months of political deadlock, after Yeltsin signed a decree to dissolve the Supreme Soviet, as the legislature was called at the time.

It set up a standoff with the Communist-dominated parliament, which voted to remove Yeltsin as leader and give his powers to vice-president Alexander Rutskoy, who joined the opposition.

Parliament supporters barricaded themselves with rebel MPs inside the White House while Yeltsin's opponents demonstrated outside.

The rebels seized the Moscow mayor's offices and took over part of the state television centre.

Yeltsin eventually crushed the rebellion by ordering tanks and troops to fire on the White House on October 4.

Entire floors of the 18-storey building were reduced to rubble and the leaders of the rebellion were jailed.

The number of people killed is officially listed at 148, though the rebels claimed that some 1,000 people died.

In December that year, a new constitution boosting the powers of the president was adopted by referendum.

But Yeltsin's supporters suffered losses in parliamentary elections, and MPs later voted to grant amnesty to the leaders of the uprising.

"My Toast And Towel Fell Down": India Star's Funny Story From 1983 WC

Former India batter Syed Kirmani has revealed a funny incident from the 1983 World Cup. It was India's match against Zimbabwe in which the then captain of the side, Kapil Dev, played the iconic 175-run knock. India were tottering at 17 for 5 when Kapil Dev entered the crease and tore apart the Zimbabwe bowlers, helping his team eventually post a total of 266 for 8 in 60 overs. The captain's unbeaten knock was laced with 16 fours and 6 sixes.

Kirmani revealed the funny incident during Adani Group's launch of 'Jeetenge Hum' campaign at Adani Day.

"I am in the dressing room, toast in between my teeth and the towel around me. Somebody shouted from outside - 'Hey Kiri pad up'. Normally, guys pull your leg (by shouting like this). So I ignored that shout. In a span of three minutes again, someone shouted - 'Arey kya kar raha hai yaar (What are you doing man?) Pad up.' So I held my towel with the toast between my teeth, I saw the scoreboard which read 17 for 5. My toast and towel fell down. I looked around left and right. Believe me, no one was there in the dressing room," said Syed Kirmani on the eve of India's 40th anniversary of 1983 World Cup.

India went on to win the game by 31 runs as the side bundled out Zimbabwe for 235. Madan Lal picked three wickets while Roger Binny scalped two. Mohinder Amarnath, Kapil Dev and Balwinder Sandhu claimed a wicket each.

In the final match of the tournament, India defeated West indies by 43 runs to claim their first-ever World Cup title.

"Need To Forget Differences" Arvind Kejriwal Told Rahul Gandhi: Sources

Amid confusion over the Congress' stance on the Centre's Delhi ordinance, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal told Rahul Gandhi to forget the differences and move forward together at the opposition meeting in Patna, AAP sources said on Saturday.

"Arvind Kejriwal spoke directly to Rahul Gandhi (on the ordinance matter) and said if there is any issue, they can resolve it over tea. In the opposition meeting on Friday, Kejriwal said there is a need to forget the differences and move forward together," a party source said.

Given the situation, he said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is yet to decide if it will attend the opposition parties' next meeting scheduled in Shimla.

The plan of action is expected to be formulated at another meeting to be chaired by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, tentatively on July 10 or 12, in Shimla. Drawing the battle lines, opposition parties had on Friday resolved to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unitedly in 2024 Lok Sabha elections at the crucial meeting in Patna.

In a statement on Friday, the AAP had said that any alliance with the Congress would be very difficult after its war of words with the grand old party over the contentious Delhi ordinance issue.

At the opposition meet in Patna, many parties urged the Congress to publicly denounce the "black ordinance", but the grand old party refused to do so which raises suspicions about its real intentions, the AAP had said in the statement soon after the meeting.

AAP sources claimed that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee at the meeting intervened and said Mr Gandhi and Mr Kejriwal should sit together for lunch so that all the issues get addressed.

Sources in the AAP also claimed that at the end of the meeting, Mr Kharge alleged that a spokesperson of AAP was making 'wrong' statements about the Congress.

"In response, our national convener Arvind Kejriwal clearly stated that Congress spokespersons had also made misleading statements against AAP. Having said that, there is a need to forget the differences and come together," the source added.

The source said Rahul Gandhi stressed that there was a process to discuss about the contentious Delhi ordinance.

"Kejriwal asked the Congress to specify the time for the next meeting, but the Congress leaders were non-responsive. All the top opposition leaders present during the meeting had urged the Congress to clarify its stand on the ordinance and fix a meeting to discuss the same," the source said.

The AAP source also said that party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal specified that his party had always stood by the Congress in the right matters.

"Even when Rahul Gandhi's Lok Sabha membership was cancelled, Kejriwal had opposed it. If Gandhi and the Congress are afraid to meet AAP leaders, forging of opposition unity is doubtful. We have been constantly asking for an appointment with the leadership, but the Congress has refused to budge," he said.

The AAP source also said that although the Kharge-led party has maintained that it has always raised its voice against any draconian law, but it has largely remained mum on the Delhi ordinance issue.

Although Mr Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP's Rajya Sabha MPs Sanjay Singh and Raghav Chadha attended the opposition meeting, they remained conspicuous by their absence at the joint press conference held by the opposition parties later.

The BJP took a potshot at the absence of Mr Kejriwal at the opposition parties' joint press conference in Patna and said the AAP's "blackmailing" at the beginning of the meeting itself showed the future of the "unholy alliance".

Mr Kharge, however, said a decision on whether to oppose the Centre's ordinance on the control of administrative services in Delhi would be taken before the Parliament session and wondered why it was being talked about elsewhere when the matter pertained to Parliament.

Video: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese Tries Out Indian Food

The area in the Sydney suburb of Harris Park shone a little brighter than usual on June 23rd as Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese tried out Indian street food like chaat and jalebi at the Little India, as recommended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit here last month.

Mr Albanese tweeted about the experience and also shared a video of himself enjoying Indian food.

"Great Friday night in Little India, Harris Park with Andrew Charlton. We tried out Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recommendations of chaat at Chatkazz and jalebi at Jaipur Sweets a winner!," Mr Albanese tweeted.

Harris Park, located in Parramatta, is home to a large Indian community. It is a well-known destination for Indian cuisine and several Indian-owned businesses and shops.

PM Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese last month laid the foundation stone of the 'Little India' gateway at the event at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.

Prime Minister Modi responded to the tweet by saying, "Sounds like a memorable Friday night, imbibing the best of Indian culture and culinary diversity. A winner indeed, like the India-Australia friendship." Modi, during his visit to Australia last month, addressed a community event in Sydney.

During the address, he said: "I've heard that Chatkazz 'Chaat' and 'Jalebi' from Jaipur Sweets at Harris Park are very delicious. I want you all to take my friend Australian PM Albanese to that place."

Watch: Twin Tornadoes Touch Down In US State Bring Golf Ball-Sized Hail

A remarkable video of twin tornadoes - an extremely rare occurrence - forming in Colorado in the United States has emerged on social media. The incredible video was shared by storm chaser Tony Laubach.

The side-by-side tornadoes appeared to be over open country a few miles south and west of Akron in Washington County. Aside from producing twin tornadoes, the storm sat still over the same general area for an hour - another very rare occurrence, according to a report.

Golf ball-sized hail fell in many areas, including over North Sterling State Park, as the storms moved through Colorado.

There were, however, no initial reports of damage from the tornadoes.

Tornado warnings were issued for Washington County and parts of Logan and Morgan Counties for several hours on Wednesday afternoon as slow-moving storms sat over the same areas.

Earlier this month, three people were killed and up to 100 others injured in Texas after a horrific tornado ripped through a town causing widespread destruction.

Several million Americans across multiple southern and midwestern states were under severe weather alerts as dangerous storms fueled by high temperatures battered the region, bringing tornadoes, thunderstorms and hail the size of golf balls.

"I Came Away From PM Modi Meeting Truly Impressed": US Think-Tank Expert

Dr Max Abrahms, an expert associated with the US think-tank, who had the opportunity to interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (local time), expressed his admiration for the Indian leader's approachability and openness during their meeting.

"I came away from the Modi meeting truly impressed. We weren't told in advance of any limitations on what could be said. He allowed everyone to tell him or ask him anything. He listened carefully and responded seriously to everyone. He sat among us with so much humility in this circle," tweeted Abrahms, an Associate Professor of Political Science at Northeastern University, Boston.

The meeting between PM Modi and the group of experts from the think tank focused on important topics such as geopolitics, the global economic situation, and terrorism among other crucial issues.

The experts in attendance included Michael Froman, President-designate and Distinguished Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), New York; Daniel Russel, Vice President for International Security and Diplomacy at the Asia Society Policy Institute, New York; Jeff M Smith, Director, Asian Studies Center, The Heritage Foundation, DC; Elbridge Colby, Co-founder of 'The Marathon Initiative', based in Washington DC and Guru Sowle, Founder-member, Director (Indo-US Affairs), Indus International Research Foundation, Texas.

PM Modi met experts from several leading US think tanks, in New York and discussed a range of developmental and geo-political issues.

He invited them to enhance their presence in India as it embarks on its transformation during the Amritkaal.

"Met a group of people associated with key think tanks. We talked about different aspects of policymaking and emerging global trends. Emphasised the positive changes in India and how they are being powered by our youth," tweeted PM Modi.

"Hard To Say...": Roger Federer's Honest Take On GOAT Debate

Roger Federer described Novak Djokovic's record-breaking 23rd Grand Slam title achievement as "unbelievable" on Wednesday but avoided anointing his old rival as the greatest player of all time. "I think what Novak has done is unbelievable," said Federer, who racked up 20 Grand Slams before he retired last year. Djokovic edged ahead of 22-time major winner Rafael Nadal when he won his third French Open in Paris earlier this month. Federer, 41, speaking at the Halle grass-court tournament on Wednesday, admitted however it was "hard to say" who was best player of all time.

"The whole matter is difficult to answer," said Federer. "I asked a friend, what is more difficult, winning Wimbledon at 17, like Boris Becker, or the French Open at 36 like Novak?"

"I don't know. It's a great time to be a tennis fan but also a player," added the Swiss great who was guest of honour in Halle for 'Roger Federer Day'.

"It means a lot to me," Federer said of his return to Halle, where he won a record 10 singles titles.

"Of course I'm overjoyed. I was able to shape this tournament myself with so many victories. It feels like a home away from home."

Federer spent over an hour signing autographs and posing for selfies on centre court in the sun but said he did not miss being in the heat of the action.

"Of course, you want to experience that again. But as long as you know your body cannot do it at this level, you don't feel the need to be out on the court," he said.

"It Is Heartbreaking": Sonia Gandhi On Manipur Violence

Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday issued an appeal for peace in violence-hit Manipur and said the unprecedented violence that has devastated the lives of people of the state has left a deep wound on the nation's conscience.

In a video message shared by the Congress on social media, she expressed sadness that people were forced to flee the only place they called home and leave behind all that they had built over their lifetime.

"It is heartbreaking to witness our brothers and sisters who have coexisted peacefully turn against each other," she said in her message.

Mrs Gandhi said the history of Manipur stands testament to its ability to embrace people of all ethnicities, religions and backgrounds, and the myriad possibilities of a diverse society.

"It takes tremendous trust and goodwill to nurture the spirit of brotherhood, and a single misstep to fan the flames of hate and divisiveness," she noted.

"Today, we are at vital crossroads. Our choice to embark on the path of healing will shape the kind of future that our children will inherit. I appeal to the people of Manipur, especially my brave sisters, to lead the way in bringing peace and harmony to this beautiful land," Mrs Gandhi said.

The former Congress chief said that as a mother, she understands their pain and appealed to their good conscience to lead the way.

"It is my sincere hope that over the coming weeks and months, we will set out on the long journey of rebuilding trust and emerge stronger from this trial. I have immense hope and faith in the people of Manipur and I know that together we will overcome this ordeal," Mrs  Gandhi said in her 2.5-minute video message.

The Congress has been accusing the BJP of playing "divisive politics" in Manipur and alleged that the governments in the state and at the Centre have failed in their duty to maintain law and order in the northeastern state.

Titanic Sub Firm Fired Executive Who Raised Safety Concerns: Lawsuit

The former director of marine operations for the US company whose Titanic tourism submersible is missing raised safety concerns before being fired, according to a 2018 lawsuit.

David Lochridge's misgivings about the safety of the missing submersible, the Titan, are contained in a response he filed to a lawsuit brought against him by its owner, OceanGate.

A massive US and Canadian coast guard search effort is underway in the North Atlantic after the OceanGate submersible carrying five people went missing on Sunday during a dive to the wreck of the Titanic.

Lochridge, a submarine pilot and diver from Scotland, began working for OceanGate in May 2015 as an independent contractor before being promoted to director of marine operations, according to court documents.

In the lawsuit filed in Washington state five years ago, Oceangate accused Lochridge of violating a nondisclosure agreement by divulging confidential and proprietary information.

In a counterclaim, Lochridge said he was fired by OceanGate in January 2018 after he "raised critical safety concerns regarding OceanGate's experimental and untested design of the Titan."

"Lochridge first expressed verbal concerns over the safety and quality control issues regarding the Titan to OceanGate executive management," the document said. "These verbal communications were ignored."

Lochridge was concerned, the counterclaim said, about "the quality control and safety of the Titan, particularly OceanGate's refusal to conduct critical, non-destructive testing of the experimental design of the hull."

Passengers on the Titan could be exposed to danger as the submersible reached extreme depths, Lochridge warned.

In his filing, Lochridge said the viewing port at the forward end of the submersible was built to sustain a certified pressure of 1,300 meters (4,265 feet), although OceanGate planned to take passengers down to depths of some 4,000 meters.

"OceanGate refused to pay for the manufacturer to build a viewport that would meet the required depth of 4,000 meters," the document said.

The Titanic rests on the seabed at a depth of around 3,800 meters.

- 'Unanimous concern' -

Lochridge also "strongly encouraged" OceanGate to use a classification agency such as the American Bureau of Shipping to inspect and certify the Titan, the document said.

"Rather than address his concerns or undergo corrective action to rectify and ensure the safety of the experimental Titan, or utilize a standard classification agency to inspect the Titan, OceanGate did the exact opposite -- they immediately fired Lochridge," it said.

According to Insider and the New Republic, which first reported on the lawsuit, the complaint was settled out of court in November 2018.

OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush is one of the five people on board the Titan.

Besides the safety worries put forward by Lochridge, The New York Times on Tuesday published a March 2018 letter from the Marine Technology Society to Rush in which the industry group's members voiced "unanimous concern" about the Titan.

"Our apprehension is that the current experimental approach adopted by Oceangate could result in negative outcomes (from minor to catastrophic) that would have serious consequences for everyone in the industry," the letter said.

PM Modi's US State Visit Is Not About China Or Russia Says White House

The main objective of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the United States is to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the US and India, with a focus on enhancing cooperation and collaboration and has nothing to do about China or Russia, John Kirby, White House National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications

During a press conference, John Kirby stated that this visit is not about convincing PM Modi or the Indian Government to do something different.

"This state visit is also not about Russia. And what we're trying to do with our bilateral relationship with India is improve the bilateral relationship for its own sake and on its own foundation, because it's that important to us. It's not about forcing or coercing or trying to convince Prime Minister Modi or the Indian government to do something different. It's about focusing on where we are in this relationship and making it more important, more robust, more cooperative going forward," said Mr Kirby.

The NSC Coordinator also said that the US supported "India's emergence as a great power" and was looking to improve and deepen the defence cooperation between India and US.

"This is a big week here at the White House. This visit will affirm the strong ties between our two countries (US and India) and elevate our strategic partnership. We want to improve and deepen the defence cooperation between India and the USA. We support India's emergence as a great power," Mr Kirby said.

Speaking about defence cooperation, he said that cooperation between the two countries has improved and the US is looking to deepen that, to broaden and to find opportunities to improve that defence cooperation.

"I won't speak for Prime Minister Modi or the Indian government and where and how they see their defence cooperation going forward. All I can tell you is what I said earlier that we have seen in recent years, particularly since the beginning of the Biden administration, that defence cooperation between our two countries has improved. And we're looking and you'll see quite a focus on it this week in particular, we're looking to deepen that, to broaden and to find opportunities to improve that defence cooperation between India and the United States," said John Kirby.

The White House official said PM Modi's visit will strengthen the shared commitment to a free, open, prosperous and secure Indo-Pacific.

"With Indians, we believe in a safe, secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific region, so it makes sense to look for ways to improve our defence cooperation," he said.

He further said that when leaders will summarise their meeting at the end, the discussion will be more on the focus of the future and on the future of the Indo-Pacific.

"We have a shared interest and a shared common goal of a free, open, prosperous and secure Indo-Pacific. India is a major exporter of security in the Indo-Pacific region, and they certainly have equities of their own to speak to. So we're looking forward to where this is going," he added.

Speaking on the price cap on Russian oil, the official further said, "The price cap is working and proven effective. It's working and we are gratified to see that. It is up to India to decide and we hope that India will continue to buy oil in keeping within the price cap."

In December last year, the United States and its allies went after Russia's all-important oil revenues after a European ban and price cap on Russian oil.

Europe, along with the United States and other major economies, like the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, and Australia, has agreed to a maximum of USD 60 per barrel on Russian seaborne oil, which means anyone who still wants to buy Russian oil has to pay that price or less if it wants to ship cargo through operators or insurers based in the EU or other countries who signed on to this price cap.

Replying to a question on if India could be a mediator in the Russia-Ukraine war, Kirby said, "It would be on Prime Minister Modi to take an assertive role. We would welcome a constructive role by any third party. It is a question that only PM Modi can answer."

John Kirby further said that India has been a tremendous contributor to humanitarian assistance and said, "We welcome the humanitarian assistance given by India to Ukraine."

He said that PM Modi's visit concerns not just the red carpet and a terrific meal. It is about anchoring the relationship.

"A state visit is not just about the red carpet and a terrific meal. It is about anchoring the relationship. Take a look at the region, in which the bilateral relationship has improved and is going to go in 10-15 years from now. All these are a reason enough to have a meeting with India to see the future ahead. The full scope of the agenda, sitting down with Modi and his team. India has a vibrant democracy and they too work on it. No democracy reaches perfection. The idea is to become more perfect. We are going to work on this bilateral relationship," said John Kirby.

He also informed that Vice President Kamala Harris will be hosting a lunch for PM Modi where several Indian-Americans will also be present.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in New York for his first historic state visit to the United States.

PM Modi was invited by the US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.

Prime Minister will also lead the celebrations of the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters on June 21.

During his visit to New York, PM Modi will meet CEOs, Nobel laureates, economists, artists, scientists, scholars, entrepreneurs, academicians, and health sector experts.

PM Modi will then travel to Washington DC, where he will receive a ceremonial welcome at the White House on June 22 and meet Biden to continue their high-level dialogue.

The invitation to deliver such a historic speech was extended by both the House of Representatives and the Senate, demonstrating bipartisan support and respect for Prime Minister Modi in the United States.

He would be the first Indian Prime Minister to address a joint session of the United States Congress twice.

Delta Flight Cancelled Shortly Before Takeoff As Pilot Showed Up Drunk

A Delta Airlines flight from Edinburgh, Scotland, to New York City was recently canceled after the pilot showed up drunk and was later arrested, New York Post reported. The incident happened on June 16 when passengers were already onboard and the flight was about to take off.

However, the 61-year-old pilot was arrested at the Edinburg Airport around 10 am, just 30 minutes before the Boeing 767 was scheduled to take off. Notably, his blood alcohol level was found above the legal limit of 0.02.

Meanwhile, the flight to New York was canceled and the passengers were re-accommodated.

Delta Airlines confirmed the incident, stating, "Delta confirms that one of its crew was taken into custody Friday morning at EDI Airport. Delta is assisting the authorities with their ongoing inquiries. Delta's EDI-JFK flight (June 16) has been canceled, and customers are being re-accommodated. We apologize to customers impacted by this cancellation.''

The pilot was charged under the UK's Railways and Transport Safety Act of 2003, which imposes limits on alcohol consumption for crew members. As per the RTSA, the legal blood-alcohol limit for airline crew members is 20 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood.

The maximum penalty for anyone found guilty of being "over the prescribed limit" is a two-year jail sentence.

A spokesperson for Delta said the company's ''alcohol policy is among the strictest in the industry and we have no tolerance for violation.''

The pilot was scheduled to appear Monday at the Edinburgh Sheriff Court, according to the Herald Scotsman.

In Another Milk War Kerala To Oppose Karnataka's 'Nandini' Brand

The LDF government in Kerala on Sunday said it was concerned over the entry into the state of milk and milk products of popular Karnataka brand Nandini and asserted that it would strongly oppose the move.

State Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Milk Cooperatives J Chinchurani said Kerala has given a complaint to the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to resolve the issue.

"Any further steps will be taken by us after NDDB holds discussions with Nandini," the minister told a TV channel.

She said the state government expects Nandini to withdraw its decision to sell its milk and milk products in Kerala after intervention of the Centre in the matter.

The minister said both Nandini, the trade name used by the Karnataka Milk Marketing Federation (KMMF), and Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation's (KCMMF) Milma are government-run organisations and therefore, when going to another state, that state's permission ought to have been taken.

On the issue of Nandini selling milk at rates much lower, around Rs 7 lesser, than that of Milma, the minister said it was not possible.

She said that earlier when Kerala had a milk shortage, Nandini milk was sold here with permission of Karnataka government and back then its rates were not low.

On being asked about the dairy farmers' stand on the issue, the minister said many have got in touch with the government and said only Milma should operate in Kerala.

Ms Chinchurani also dismissed any possibility of Nandini collecting milk from dairy farmers in Kerala, saying that there are enough dairy organisations functioning under the cooperative law in the state and they all supply milk to Milma.

"Moreover, we have been helping the dairy farmers, through subsidies and increasing the price of milk when required, and have many other helpful schemes lined up for them in the future," she said.

In April last year, KCMMF had termed as "unethical" the tendency of some state milk marketing federations to aggressively enter markets outside their respective states.

It was criticising the KMMF's move of opening its outlets in parts of Kerala to sell its Nandini brand of milk and other products.

Milma, back then, had said this involved a total breach of cooperative spirit based on which the country's dairy sector has been organised for the benefit of millions of dairy farmers.

Such practices from any side will jeopardise the spirit of cooperative principles that have been nurtured for long by mutual consent and goodwill, it had said.

Putin Rebuts Key Elements Of African Leaders' Peace Plan For Ukraine War

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday gave African leaders seeking to mediate in the war in Ukraine a list of reasons why he believed many of their proposals were misguided, pouring cold water on a plan already largely dismissed by Kyiv.

The African leaders were seeking agreement on a series of "confidence-building measures", even as Kyiv last week began a counteroffensive to push back Russian forces from the swathes of southern and eastern Ukraine that they occupy.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said after meeting them in Kyiv on Friday that peace talks would require Moscow to withdraw its forces from occupied Ukrainian territory, something Russia has said is not negotiable.

Putin opened Saturday's talks with representatives of Senegal, Egypt, Zambia, Uganda, Congo Republic, Comoros and South Africa in a palace near St Petersburg by stressing Russia's commitment to the continent.

But after presentations from the Comoran, Senegalese and South African presidents, he stepped in to challenge the assumptions of the plan - predicated on acceptance of internationally recognised borders - before the round of statements could go any further.

Putin reiterated his position that Ukraine and its Western allies had started the conflict long before Russia sent its armed forces over the border in February last year, something they deny.

He said the West, not Russia, was responsible for a sharp rise in global food prices early last year that has hit Africa especially hard.

He told the delegation that Ukrainian grain exports from Black Sea ports that Russia has permitted for the past year were doing nothing to alleviate Africa's difficulties with high food prices because they had largely gone to wealthy countries.

And he said Russia had never refused talks with the Ukrainian side, which had been blocked by Kyiv. Moscow has, however, repeatedly said any peace must allow for "new realities", meaning its declared annexation of five Ukrainian provinces, four of which it only partially controls - a red line for Kyiv.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in televised remarks that Moscow shared the "main approaches" of the African plan, but Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted by Russian news agencies as saying it was "difficult to realise".

Peskov said Putin had shown interest in the plan, whose 10 points South African President Cyril Ramaphosa laid out in his presentation, and Russia would continue dialogue with the African countries.

Lavrov said they had not brought the Russian leader any message from Zelenskiy.

Putin said Moscow was "open to constructive dialogue with anyone who wants to establish peace on the principles of fairness and acknowledgement of the legitimate interests of the parties".

There was no immediate word on the bilateral talks that Ramaphosa, host of a summit in August featuring Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, had said he would have with Putin.

Since the International Criminal Court indicted Putin in March on war crimes charges - which he rejects - South Africa, as a member of the court, finds itself in the awkward position of being obliged to arrest him if he sets foot there.

Watch: Cyclone Rescue Team Carries Infant In Empty Cement Bag In Gujarat

A National Disaster Response Force team evacuated 127 people from a school in Gujarat district today after water levels began rising there because of heavy rain due to Cyclone Biparjoy.

Videos from the site show NDRF personnel wading through knee-deep water carrying infants wrapped in clothes and even an empty cement bag to shield them from the rain.

People from areas close to the coast had been given shelter in Rupan Bandar School in Devbhumi Dwarka district, but when the area around it began getting waterlogged, a decision was taken to shift them to another school nearby.

In a video, an NDRF personnel can be seen carrying an infant out of the school wrapped in an empty cement bag to protect it from the pouring rain. The rescuer carries the infant through knee-deep water and hands it over to a family member waiting in an area where the water level is lower.

The video also shows NDRF personnel holding the hands of older children to help them through the waterlogged area. They are also seen carrying out the belongings of families taking shelter at the school.

A total of 82 men, 27 women, 15 children and three nursing staff were shifted out of the school.

Cyclone Biparjoy made landfall near the Jakhau Port in Gujarat last evening with wind speeds between 125 kmph and 140 kmph.  Heavy rain coupled with strong winds brought down over 524 trees and electric poles at various places in Gujarat, snapping power supply to nearly 1,000 villages.

The cyclone began weakening several hours after making landfall and is expected to weaken further into a deep depression this evening.

NDRF Director General Atul Karwal has said no lives were lost after Cyclone Biparjoy made landfall in Gujarat.

The Master Blaster had a huge career of 24 years and broke numerous records with the bat. However, one bowler who always used to trouble Tendulkar was Pakistan's former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq. There used to be a tough-time for Tendulkar whenever he would be facing Razzaq and after his retirement he even praised the all-rounder for his greatness.

Talking about Sachin's praise, Razzaq expressed his gratitude towards the Indian legend for mentioning his name among the greats and stated that it was his kind and humble nature that he did it.

"First of all, Sachin Tendulkar was and will always remain a world-class batsman. However, the star that he was and the kind of fan following which he had, Sachin didn't need to say it (that Razzaq was a tough bowler to face). I never understood Sachin's need to take my name. He could have named anyone - Glenn McGrath, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Ambrose and Walsh, Muralitharan and Shane Warne. So he didn't need to," Razzaq said on The Nadir Ali podcast.

"It was his greatness. The words he chose for me - and I've said this earlier as well - he was being too kind. Not once; he said it quite a few times. Even Sehwag did. A bunny is someone who constantly troubles a batter. But I never gloated in it too much," he added.

Earlier in March, Razzaq had revealed that it was Virender Sehwag that the Pakistan team considered the 'most dangerous', with Tendulkar occupying the second spot in the list.

"Virender Sehwag was the most dangerous player. After that Sachin Tendulkar. Pakistan used to plan against Sehwag and Tendulkar. Our plan used to be like - if we get these two wickets - Sehwag and Tendulkar - we will win the match. In bowling, our batsmen used to plan against Zaheer Khan. Irfan Pathan was there too for some time. Harbhajan Singh was there. These were the big names who played big matches and performed for their country," Razzaq revealed in a chat with the Times of India.

"Won't Fight In Madhya Pradesh Rajasthan If...": AAP's Offer To Congress

Hitting out at the Congress party, Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj on Thursday came out with an 'offer' for the grand old party, saying that if it doesn't contest elections in Delhi and Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will also not contest the upcoming elections in Madhya Pradesh and in Rajasthan.

This comes at a time when AAP is looking forward to getting support from the Congress against the Centre's ordinance over control of administrative services in Delhi.

"Congress party got zero seats in the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections in Delhi. If Congress says they will not fight elections in Delhi-Punjab, then we will also say we will not fight elections in MP-Rajasthan," the AAP leader said while addressing a press conference here in the national capital on Thursday.

Saurabh Bhardwaj also took a jibe at the grand old party calling it "Copy-Cat-Congress" and said that it lacks its own, that's why they are stealing the manifesto of the Aam Aadmi Party.

"Congress is the oldest party of the country. But, today it has become C-C-C, Copy-Cut-Congress. They are stealing everything from Arvind Kejriwal. They have no idea of their own left. Now it is coming to the fore that Congress not only lacks leadership but also lacks ideas. Congress does not have such a mechanism to know the people's aspirations," he said.

Mr Bhardwaj added, "The biggest example of this is that today this country's oldest party is stealing the manifesto of the country's newest party AAP. Arvind Kejriwal called our manifesto a guarantee. Even this guarantee word has been stolen by the Congress".

He further said that the Congress party had earlier mocked AAP's free electricity and monthly allowances to women, but now it is itself promising the schemes in other states.

"When we talked about giving free electricity in Delhi, the Congress made fun of us. But, it copied Arvind Kejriwal's guarantee in Himachal Pradesh and promised 300 units of free electricity. It also mocked our free allowance to women in Punjab, but later itself announced it in Himachal and Karnataka," he said.

He also took a dig at Congress for not being able to take the decision on whether to support AAP on the ordinance issue or not.

"Decisions are often delayed in the Congress party. They could not form the government in Goa on time and the BJP took away the MLA by breaking the party," he added.

From May 23, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal embarked on a nationwide tour to seek support from the Opposition parties against the Ordinance.

The party also held a mega rally at Delhi's Ramlila ground on May 11 against the ordinance.

The AAP national convenor has so far met with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav.

The Union government on May 19 brought an ordinance to notify rules for the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) regarding the 'transfer posting, vigilance and other incidental matters'.

The ordinance was brought to amend the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Act, 1991 and it circumvents the Supreme Court judgement in the Centre vs Delhi case.

Cyclone Biparjoy: 22 Injured 940 Villages Plunge Into Darkness In Gujarat

At least 22 people were injured, while electric poles and trees were uprooted as 'very severe' cyclonic storm Biparjoy made landfall in Gujarat's coastal areas on Thursday evening, officials said.

In addition to this, 23 animals have also been killed and heavy rains coupled with gusty winds brought down over 524 trees and electric poles at various places in Gujarat, snapping the supply of power to around 940 villages, they said.

As the storm's landfall process started, gusty winds at over 120 kmph and heavy rains lashed the Saurashtra and Kutch coasts of the state.

Officials said that several relief and rescue teams are on alert as tens of thousands of people were evacuated to safe locations in Gujarat.

"Around 22 people have been injured due to the storm. So far, there is no news of anyone's death. 23 animals have been killed, 524 trees have fallen, and electric poles have also fallen in some places due to which there is no electricity in 940 villages," Alok Singh, Relief Commissioner of Gujarat, said.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the landfall is expected to continue for a few hours as the storm's eye (which is around 50 km in diameter) will cross into the land.

IMD officials said that Cyclone Biparjoy is moving ahead of Saurashtra and Kutch region as a very severe cyclone.

"Cyclone Warning for Saurashtra & Kutch Coasts: RED MESSAGE. VSCS BIPARJOY at 2230IST near lat 23.25N and long 68.5E, close to Saurashtra & Kutch Coasts, 10km west of Jakhau Port (Gujarat), 120km NNW of Devbhumi Dwarka. LANDFALL PROCESS IS CONTINUING," IMD tweeted.

Cyclone Biparjoy, which had been brewing over the Arabian Sea for several days, has made landfall on Gujarat's coastal area and has also affected the train services. Due to this, around 99 trains running through, originating or terminating in Biparjoy-affected areas of Gujarat, will remain cancelled or short-terminated, Western Railway said.

"The landfall process of extremely severe cyclonic storm 'Biparjoy' has begun and it will continue till Thursday midnight," a senior weather scientist at India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
After cyclone Biparjoy made landfall on Gujarat's coastal area on Thursday, trees were uprooted and hoardings fell in Dwarka, as strong winds hit the district.

Earlier in the day, IMD had said that Cyclone Biparjoy is moving ahead of Saurashtra Kutch as a very severe cyclone.

"Till 11, its centre will come towards the land. The tidal waves will slowly decrease in the next 3 to 6 hours. On the 16th, heavy to very heavy rainfall activity may occur," IMD said.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel chaired a review meeting at the State Emergency Operation Center in Gandhinagar on Thursday morning.

Earlier on Wednesday, the IMD issued a Red alert for the Saurashtra and Kutch coasts, saying that VSCS (Very Severe Cyclonic Storm) 'Biparjoy' will cross Saurashtra and Kutch and adjoining Pakistan coasts, between Mandvi and Karachi near Jakhau Port, by Thursday evening.

Warnings about extensive damage to temporary housing structures and falling of trees and branches due to high-speed winds, high tides and heavy rainfall have already been issued by India Meteorological Department.

"World Just Experienced Its Warmest Early June On Record": European Union

Average global temperatures at the start of June were the warmest the European Union's climate monitoring unit has ever recorded for the period, trouncing previous records by a "substantial margin", it said on Thursday.

The news comes as the El Nino climate phenomenon has officially arrived, raising fears of extreme weather and more temperature records.

"The world has just experienced its warmest early June on record, following a month of May that was less than 0.1 degrees Celsius cooler than the warmest May on record," said Samantha Burgess, deputy director of the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S).

"Global-mean surface air temperatures for the first days of June 2023 were the highest in the ERA5 data record for early June by a substantial margin", Copernicus said. Some of the unit's data goes back as far as 1950.

Copernicus recently announced that global oceans were warmer last month than in any other May on record.

The unit also said that at the beginning of June, global temperatures exceeded pre-industrial levels by more than 1.5C (34.7 degrees Fahrenheit), which is the most ambitious cap for global warming in the 2015 Paris Agreement.

According to the data, the daily global average temperature was at or above the 1.5C threshold between June 7-11, reaching a maximum of 1.69C above it on June 9.

While it is the first time the cap has been breached in June, this limit has been exceeded several times in winter and spring in recent years.

"Every single fraction of a degree matters to avoid even more severe consequences of the climate crisis", Burgess said.

El Nino, meaning "Little Boy" in Spanish, is marked by warmer-than-average sea surface temperatures in the central and eastern Pacific Ocean near the equator.

The weather pattern last occurred in 2018-19 and takes place every 2-7 years on average.

Most of the warmest years on record have come during El Ninos, and scientists are concerned that this summer and next could see record temperatures on land and in the sea.

"As the current El Nino continues to develop there is good reason to expect periods in the coming twelve months during which the global-mean air temperature again exceeds pre-industrial levels by more than 1.5C", Copernicus said.

The monitoring unit is based in the Germany city Bonn, where UN-led climate talks are taking place ahead of the COP28 climate summit set to be held in Dubai at the end of the year.

US Man Wins $50000 After He Sued Facebook For Banning His Account

A man in US' Georgia sued Facebook and won $50,000 (Rs 41,11,250) after he was denied access to his account, according to a Fox News report. Jason Crawford, a resident of Columbus, sued the company in 2022 for terminating his account without a valid reason and refusing to address the situation.

"I woke up one Sunday morning. I tapped on my Facebook icon, and I was locked out. They made it clear I was banned. It just gave me the briefest snapshot of saying that I had violated their standards on child sexual exploitation. And then it went away,'' he explained.

He claimed that no such violation ever occurred. More so, Facebook did not specify which of his actions or posts would have violated such a rule.

To resolve the issue, he reached out to Facebook's parent company, Meta Platforms multiple times, but all his messages were unanswered. His attempts to appeal the decision and communicate with a person within Facebook's support system went futile as the process could only be accessed through an active account.

Notably, he had previously received a violation due to political comments, but this time, he found himself completely restricted from accessing his Facebook profile.

"I just think it's bad business practice. It's a crappy way to treat people. At least tell me what I did wrong," Mr. Crawford told FOX 5 Atlanta.

Frustrated with the no-response, Mr. Crawford, who is a lawyer himself, decided to sue Facebook, alleging negligence on the part of the company in his August 2022 complaint. Despite the lawsuit, he experienced continued silence from Facebook.

However, when Facebook's legal team failed to respond to the lawsuit, a judge ordered Meta to pay him $50,000.

That's when he heard from the company, following which his account was restored. However, his fight is still not over as Facebook is apparently not cooperating with the judge and has not paid out a single dollar.

One Alcoholic Drink A Day Could Lower Risk Of Heart Disease Says Study

A new study has revealed that light to moderate alcohol consumption can lead to a long-term reduction in the brain's stress activity, ultimately lowering the risk of heart disease, New York Post reported. Researchers found that one drink per day for women and one to two drinks per day for men is linked with reductions in stress signaling in the brain.

The study was published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

Cardiologist Ahmed Tawakol, the lead author of the study, said, “We are not advocating the use of alcohol to reduce the risk of heart attacks or strokes because of other concerning effects of alcohol on health. We wanted to understand how light to moderate drinking reduces cardiovascular disease, as demonstrated by multiple other studies.''

For the study, Mr. Tawakol and his team analysed the drinking habits of over 50,000 people who were enrolled in the Mass General Brigham Biobank.  They found that those who had one to 14 drinks per week were less likely to have a heart attack or stroke than those who had less than one drink per week.

Further, they also studied 754 people who have previously undergone brain imaging to determine the effects of alcohol consumption on resting, stress-related neural network activity.

The brain imaging showed reduced stress signaling in the amygdala, the brain region associated with stress responses, in individuals who were light to moderate drinkers compared to those who abstained from alcohol or who drank little.

''We found that the brain changes in light to moderate drinkers explained a significant portion of the protective cardiac effects,'' Mr. Tawakol said in a press release.

Researchers also found that those with a history of anxiety had nearly double the cardiac-protective effect with light to moderate drinking.

''Alcohol was twice as effective at reducing major adverse cardiac events among individuals with stress and anxiety. It was about 20% in most patients but 40% relative risk reduction among individuals with prior anxiety, '' the cardiologist added.

However, they also warned that any amount of drinking raised the risk of cancer, and finding alternative methods to reduce stress is important. Higher alcohol consumption, more than 14 drinks a week, was linked to a higher risk of heart attacks and an overall decrease in brain activity.

''At the same amount of alcohol that was ‘protective' of cardiovascular disease, we saw a similar increased risk of cancer, so we're not suggesting that there is an attractive quantity of alcohol for improving health,'' Mr. Tawakol said.

"Refugees In Own State": RSS-Affiliated Body Calls For Peace In Manipur

The Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, an RSS-affiliated body, on Wednesday called for restoration of peace in violence-hit Manipur and appealed to eminent people from different walks of life to come forward to soothe tempers.

In a statement, ABVKA president Ram Chandra Kharadi said the central government is not able to restore peace in the state as the mutual trust between the Kukis and the Meiteis, who have been living together for thousands of years, have "broken into pieces".

"This violence which is continuing for the last one-and-a-half months has not only claimed hundreds of lives, but also thousands of people from both the communities have had their houses burnt, forced to live in relief camps like refugees in their own state," he said.

"The loss is not only of life and property but of mutual trust. The mutual trust of the two communities which have been living together for thousands of years has broken into pieces. This is the reason why the efforts of the central government to restore peace are also failing," he added.

Kharadi said the broken homes will be rebuilt but restoration of broken trust is the "biggest challenge".

"And, it will start with restoration of peace and normalizing the situation," he said, adding, "Now is not the time to know the reasons behind the unfortunate violent incidents took place but to restore peace and harmony".

Kharadi noted that when the government becomes "helpless", domestic and foreign "selfish elements" start adding fuel to the fire.

This is the time when the entire country, spiritual leaders, sociopolitical leaders, eminent people in the field of sports, arts, cinema, ex-military personnel and bureaucrats should come forward in the interest of the country, he added.

Kahradi said the ongoing violence in Manipur is not just a conflict between two communities in an area falling on the international border but a matter of "grave concern" for the entire country.

"As the president of the Akhil Bhartiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, I appeal to people of Manipur to treat all these unfortunate incidents as a bad dream and come out of this situation on their own, and also encourage your neighbors, friends and relatives to do so. All of them are waiting for such a positive initiative. There is no other way out," he said.

"I also appeal to eminent persons, spiritual personalities of the country, famous people associated with sports, art, cinema, former military-administrative officers, to come forward and wipe the tears of the affected people of the state," he said.

He also urged them to take out a peace march in the affected areas in order to pacify the people there and assure them that the entire country is standing with them.

"These dignitaries should also issue an appeal for peace individually or collectively from their respective places," Kharadi said, adding, "The Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram is confident that such efforts will have amazingly positive impact."
