Sensex breaches 38,000 for first time

The 30-share BSE index opened more than 100 points above previous closing at 37,994.51 and extended its gains to scale the new peak soon enough in morning trade, to hit the high of 38,050.12. The index had crossed the 37,000-mark, just about two weeks ago on July 26.
