61 die in Punjab as train mows into Dussehra crowd

A train at full speed tore through revellers who had been pushed back about 100 feet from the periphery of a burning effigy of Ravan. In the shadow of flames and crackle of explosions, none saw the rapidly approaching train or heard the whistle. How the event was allowed so close to tracks and why the railways were unaware of the event is not yet clear.
