India’s big choice for integrity in governance

Elections in India, where nearly a fifth of humanity resides, are usually a wonder of democracy. Eight years after India saw mass protests against corruption, voters will decide if the current prime minister, Narendra Modi, has done enough to ensure clean and transparent governance. Mr. Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party rode into office in 2014 on a wave of resentment against everyday bribery and nonstop scandals.
