Watch: Man Documents Experience In First-Ever Fully Automated McDonald's

Everything is taking a technological turn today. Following the same league, fast food giant McDonald's also decided to experiment with the idea last year. The restaurant chain opened its first automated restaurant in Texas, United States. As seen in several videos posted on social media, the "robotic" restaurant is entirely automated and requires no human interaction to place or take orders. The entire process, from choosing your order to packing it, is automated. An internet user recently documented his experience at this high-tech eatery and his video has amazed many people on social media.

The user, Aakaanksh took to Instagram to share the same, In the video, the user is seen standing outside the newly opened restaurant in Texas. He then goes inside and shows the surroundings. The restaurant lacks any seating or set-ups for eating inside as it is intended to be a "grab and go" eatery. He then places his order through a kiosk and a robot delivers the same. Later, he places another online order through a mobile application and it is delivered at the drive-thru.

Watch the video below:

Since being shared, the video has amassed over 16,000 likes and seven lakh views. "What do you guys think about this?" reads the caption of the video.

"No for me. Stop making everything with robotic technology, t where will all those people who work there go?? Support businesses that actually support people's jobs not take them away! POV," said one user.

"Maybe I'll get the right order for once," commented a second person.

A third said, "Why would anyone want to support workerless businesses?"

"By 2025 85 million people will be out of a job . So no I hate it . It's bad enough these apps don't have customer service half the time . No humans to speak to and make things right less interaction in society. Smh," added another person.

Another person added, "Beats their customer service!! They do this in other countries and it works!! Anyone ever hear about the food you eat carries energy and that's why you feel sick or heavy after you eat at these places due to the people's energies that work at these places going into the food you eat. Overworked and underpaid..sad but true."

Bride Misses Her Own Destination Wedding After Airline Cancels Flight

A bride missed her own wedding and lost more than $70,000 (Rs 57 lakh) in reservations after Southwest Airlines cancelled her flight. On December 27, Katie Demko was scheduled to depart from St. Louis, Missouri and her destination wedding to her fiance Michael, in Belize. However, the airline's pilot revealed that the flight had been cancelled just as passengers were about to board, as per a report in the Insider

Although the bride claims that she is a frequent flier of Southwest Airlines, she was not able to find another flight for herself and her kids to make it in time for the Belize wedding. "I had about seven travel agents, and my whole family sat for 18 hours searching for a way to get us there. We even looked at flying to Cancun and getting a bus to drive us to Belize. There was nothing," she added.

According to the outlet, her fiance arrived in Belize before her. However, her flight was short of three flight attendants and the captain made the decision to cancel it just before boarding was scheduled to begin.

Additionally, she attempted to exchange tickets with friends who were departing on December 28, but Southwest Airlines was unable to do so. "I cried all morning on December 30," Ms Demko told Insider.

Despite not receiving a complete refund, Southwest reimbursed Ms Demko for her tickets. She was also not able to receive a refund for a lot of her wedding services. The Victoria House resort, where she and her guests were scheduled to stay, did not offer refunds or postponements. So Ms Demko and her fiance lost thousands as a result of the cancellation.

"In total, it is well over $70K lost in rooms at Victoria House," she told Insider.

Talking to People Magazine, Ms Demko said that she was devastated when she learnt about the same. She said, "Please let this not be true. This can't be happening. Total devastation."

She continued, "I was in shock and just went numb."

"Either Sex Sells Or Shah Rukh Khan": Neha Dhupia Recalls Old Statement

Actor Neha Dhupia, who has been constantly giving shout outs to Shah Rukh Khan and his latest release Pathaan did it once again. A Twitter user recently wrote: "Almost 2 decade back Neha Dhupia had given a statement 'only sex or Shah Rukh Khan sells' and that stays true even today! #Pathaan #Pathaan100crWorldwide #PathaanRoars." Responding to the tweet, the actress wrote: "20 years on, my statement rings true. This is not an "actor's career" but a "King's reign"! #KingKhan." Back in 2004, during the promotions of her film Julie, Neha Dhupia had said, "In today's time, either sex sells or Shah Rukh Khan."

Read Neha Dhupia's tweet here:

After watching Pathaan in theatres, Neha Dhupia wrote this in a tweet last week: "It was a packed house, there were whistles, there was cheer and our hearts rejoiced...We laughed on beat, we applauded on every dialogue and we jumped out of our seats on cue each time Pathaan kicked. Shah Rukh Khan, thank you for you...This is what cinematic victory looks like."

She added in the tweet: "Shah Rukh Khan, the love we have for you is hard to explain. Deepika Padukone, you set the screen on fire with your gaze and your kicks and tricks. John Abraham, you make bad look so good! Salman Khan, we would go back to the cinemas to watch the best cameo in history. Pathaan is here to stay."

In terms of box office, Pathaan has earned Rs 542 crore crore gross worldwide within 5 days of its release. Box office success aside, the film has been equally adept at impressing the critics. In his review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave the film 3.5 stars out of 5 and he wrote: "Phenomenally entertaining and consistently engaging, Pathaan, for all the derivative genre components it compiles, is a spy thriller that crackles with energy."

Fans Spot Selena Gomez's Hands Shaking In Video. She Explains The Reason

American singer and actor Selena Gomez had to reiterate her lupus diagnosis to fans after they pointed out her 'shaky' hands in a recent Tik Tok video. Lupus can harm the skin, kidneys, heart, nervous system and blood cells.

In early January, the singer posted a video of applying products to remove makeup, which included gently washing her face with a towel. But Selena was trolled as her hands were shaking in the video.

Addressing the issue, Selena said to a fan, "I shake because of my medication of lupus," and added "Also read my disclaimer. I ain't no pro," reported by E News.

The 30-year-old has been vocal about her experience with lupus--an autoimmune disease--since she was diagnosed in 2014. As a result of the illness, Selena underwent a kidney transplant in 2017.

In her 2022 documentary, 'Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me', the superstar further detailed her struggle with lupus.

"I haven't felt it since I was younger," a crying Selena said in the documentary about the joint pain she is feeling. "In the morning when I wake up, I immediately start crying because it just hurts, like, everything."

However, Selena, who has also spoken about her bipolar disorder diagnosis in the past, refuses to be weighed down by her health battles. As she states in the documentary, her focus remains on embracing and loving herself.

"I found having a relationship with bipolar and myself, it's going to be there," Selena said. "I'm just making it my friend now. I think I needed to go through that to be who I am and I am going to keep going through it, but I'm really happy. I'm at peace. I'm angry. I'm sad. I'm competent. I'm full of doubt. I'm a work in progress. I am enough. I am Selena," said the pop queen.

Google Shares Interactive Doodle To Celebrate Popular Bubble Tea

If you are a tea lover, you must have explored the distinct options and variations of the beverage. While the hot versions including green tea, black tea, chamomile tea, and white tea are majorly popular for their health benefits, the cold teas are known for their flavour profiles. In the last few years, one such tea which has garnered immense popularity globally is bubble tea. This is a non-alcoholic, non-carbonated cold tea beverage. It is also called tapioca pearl drink, boba nai chai, big pearl, milk tea or bubble drink. Frothy, sweet and creamy, bubble tea is a perfect rejuvenating drink. The ‘bubble' in its name refers to the round and jelly-like tapioca pearls that are added to the drink and are usually found at the bottom of the drink.

Bubble tea became popular mainly among Gen-Z and millennials. On January 29, 2020, Unicode Consortium announced that the drink would have its own emoji. Now, Google has selected the same day to celebrate the popularity of this iconic drink across the globe through an absolutely adorable doodle. It also came with a description, reading, ''Satisfy your craving and make a yummy cup of bubble tea in today's interactive Doodle, which features Taiwan's indigenous Formosan Mountain Dog as well as a crew of familiar Doodle characters!''

Google's interactive doodle permits bubble tea lovers to create their own concoctions and run a shop. Wondering how? First, you have to click on the doodle and an animation will start playing on the screen.

The player takes the role of a Formosan Mountain Dog, who runs a bubble tea stall in the middle of a rainy forest. To prepare the drink, users have to simply fill the cup with all the ingredients including milk, sugar, boba balls, among others. You will have to fill five orders before closing shop for the day. Whenever you serve a satisfying drink, the customers line up their straws and poke through the lid.

Along with the doodle, Google in its special piece reflected upon the history of bubble tea. It mentioned how the Taiwanese drink first started as a local treat and exploded in popularity over the last few decades. Not many know bubble tea has its roots in the traditional Taiwanese tea culture of the 17th century. However, it wasn't until the 1980s that the bubble tea we know today was invented.

Google Celebrates Popularity Of Bubble Tea Through Interactive Doodle

Today, Google is celebrating the popularity of bubble tea across the globe through an adorable and interactive doodle. Bubble tea, also known as boba tea and pearl milk tea is a non-alcoholic, non-carbonated cold tea beverage. The name comes from the jelly-like appearance of the tapioca pearls that look like bubbles in the drink. The beverage gained a lot of popularity during the Covid-19 pandemic, especially among Gen-Z and millennials.

Google has selected January 29 to celebrate bubble tea, as on this day in 2020, it was announced that the iconic drink would be given its own emoji.

To celebrate the milky and tangy beverage, Google has come up with a fun, interactive doodle that allows netizens to create their own milk tea concoctions and run their own shop. All users need to do is click on the doodle and an animation will start playing on the screen. In the interactive doodle, netizens are playing as a Formosan Mountain Dog who operates a bubble tea stand in the midst of a rainy forest. The process of making tea in the game is straightforward, as users simply need to fill the cup with each ingredient like milk and the boba balls, to reach a certain line.

All in all, players will need to fill five orders before closing shop for the day, each progressively harder than the last. After each drink is completed, the customers line up their straws and poke through the lid in a satisfying way.

''Satisfy your craving and make a yummy cup of bubble tea in today's interactive Doodle, which features Taiwan's indigenous Formosan Mountain Dog as well as a crew of familiar Doodle characters!'' the doodle page reads.

Explaining the origins of the beverage, Google wrote on its Doodle page, "This Taiwanese drink started as a local treat and has exploded in popularity over the last few decades. Bubble tea has its roots in traditional Taiwanese tea culture which dates back as early as the 17th century. However, it wasn't until the 1980s that the bubble tea as we know it today was invented."

It further added, "As waves of Taiwanese immigrants over the past few decades brought this drink overseas, innovation on the original bubble tea continues. Shops around the world are still experimenting with new flavors, additions, and mixtures. Traditional tearooms across Asia have also joined in on the boba craze, and the trend has reached countries like Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and more!"

Watch: 'Slumdog Millionaire' Inspires Figure Skater To European Title

Georgia's Anastasiia Gubanova was crowned European figure skating champion on Saturday after a memorable performance to the soundtrack of the movie blockbuster "Slumdog Millionaire". Despite an error on a triple flip, the 20-year-old triumphed ahead of Belgium's Loena Hendrickx who had started as favourite in the absence of Russia's banned skaters. "I'm in shock, but the work paid off," said Gubanova, dressed in a bright outfit to resemble a sari, after winning the free program in Espoo, Finland.

Watch: 'Slumdog Millionare' Inspires Gerogian Figure Skater To European Title

She had already won the short program and finished the competition on 199.91 points.

"I was so stressed before skating, and mentally it was very hard," added Gubanova who had represented Russia until 2021.

"At the end of my performance, there were a lot of emotions."

Having finished 11th at the Beijing Olympics then sixth at the world championships last year, Saturday's win was comfortably the biggest of Gubanova's career.

Hendrickx, runner-up at the worlds, had been the favourite to succeed the banned Kamila Valieva as champion.

But the Belgian fell heavily twice on Saturday.

"I'm not happy at all. I wanted to do a good program and I didn't. I'm very disappointed," admitted the 23-year-old.

Hendrickx was more than six points behind the champion while Swiss 16-year-old Kimmy Repond was third with 192.51 points after a faultless routine to music from British rockers Muse.

Man Poses As Bureaucrat In PM's Office, Case File

The CBI has registered a case against one Ankit Kumar Singh for allegedly impersonating a secretary in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) handling the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency and seeking favours from senior government officials.

The federal agency acted on a complaint from Assistant Director in PMO Anil Kumar Sharma, officials said.

The case has been handed over to the CBI's Special Crime unit, headed by Joint Director Viplav Kumar Choudhry, who was awarded the President Police Medal for distinguished service on Republic Day, they added.

In its complaint, Mr Sharma has accused Mr Singh of claiming himself to be Dinesh Rao, a 1997-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Bihar cadre, and posted as a secretary in the PMO who looks after Varanasi district in Uttar Pradesh.

"His mobile number is XXXXXXX098 and he is learnt to have contacted Prabhu Narayan Singh, District Magistrate, Agra, Uttar Pradesh, seeking favours for 'his constituency'. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of impersonation as a PMO official since no official by this name is posted in this office," Mr Sharma said.

16-Year-Old Girl Dies Of Cardiac Arrest In School In Indore

16-year-old girl died of cardiac arrest at a school amid the cold weather conditions in Madhya Pradesh's Indore, officials said on Friday.

Vrinda Tripathi, a Class 11 student, fell unconscious and died at her school in Usha Nagar area on Wednesday, the dead girl's uncle Raghvendra Tripathi told PTI.

The girl had gone to school to rehearse for a Republic Day event the next day, when she collapsed, he said.

Vrinda was rushed to a hospital, where doctors tried to revive her with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and other means but to no avail, he said.

According to doctors, the girl had died before being brought to the hospital.

"Vrinda was absolutely fine before the heart failure. Doctors have said that she possibly died of cold," Raghvendra Tripathi said. An autopsy was conducted on the girl at the district hospital, which revealed that she had suffered a bruise on her chin, possibly due to the fall, and she had died of cardiac arrest, an official said.

The girl had worn a thin track suit at the time of her death and snack particles were found in her stomach, he added.

Following the death, the girl's grieving family has donated her eyes, said Jeetu Bagani, a volunteer of Muskan Group, which is associated with Indore Society for Organ Donation.

Talking to PTI, cardiologist Dr Anil Bharani said during the harsh cold conditions, especially from 4 am to 10 am, the level of different hormones in the human body shoots up and formation of blood clots fuelling the possibility of a sudden cardiac arrest is relatively high.

He advised people to consume nutritious food and exercise to beat extreme cold weather.

These funds were diverted from the company and its seven subsidiaries causing losses to the shareholders, it added.

The fine has to be paid in 45 days.

ICC Announces Test Team Of The Year, Only One Indian Finds A Place

The International Cricket Council on Tuesday announced the Test Team of the year 2022. Ben Stokes was named the skipper of the XI, which also has his England teammates Jonny Bairstow and James Anderson. Pakistan's star batter Babar Azam has also found a place in team. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who is recovering from the injuries he sustained in a serious car crash two days before the new year, is the only Indian to be picked in the ICC Men's Test team of 2022. The 25-year-old had a glorious year with the bat, amassing 680 runs from 12 innings at an average of 61.81 and a strike rate of 90.90. He had two centuries and four fifties in the year.

He smashed 21 sixes in Tests in 2022 and was decent with the gloves, producing six stumpings and taking 23 catches.

England skipper Ben Stokes, who transformed the side with his aggressive brand of cricket, has been named captain of the Test XI that also has his team-mates Jonny Bairstow and James Anderson.

The ICC Test XI features four Aussies including skipper Pat Cummins forming a pace combination with South African ace Kagiso Rabada and Anderson.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam and West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite complete the lineup.

Iyer, Siraj only Indians in ODI Team of 2022

Middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer and young pacer Mohammed Siraj are the only two Indians who found a place in the ICC ODI Team of 2022 captained by Pakistan's Babar Azam.

In a fruitful 2022, Iyer played the role of anchor in India's star-studded batting lineup in the 50-over.

Mostly slotting in at No.4, Iyer played 17 games during the calendar year and scored 724 runs at an average of 55.69.

He scored his runs at a brisk pace of 91.52, which included one century and six fifties to cement his place in India's ODI scheme of things ahead of the World Cup in October-November.

Siraj was one of the most improved bowlers in white-ball cricket and finished as the leading wicket-taker for the Men in Blue with 24 scalps in 15 ODIs in the absence of an injured Jasprit Bumrah.

His wickets came at an economy of 4.62 and an average of 23.50, with best figures of 3/29.

ICC Test Team of 2022: Ben Stokes (c), Usman Khawaja, Kraigg Brathwaite, Marnus Labuschagne, Babar Azam, Jonny Bairstow, Rishabh Pant (wk), Pat Cummins, Kagiso Rabada, Nathan Lyon and James Anderson.

ICC ODI Team of 2022: Babar Azam (c), Travis Head, Shai Hope, Shreyas Iyer, Tom Latham (wk), Sikandar Raza, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Siraj, Trent Boult and Adam Zampa.

Starbucks Sells "Ajji Approved Filter Copy" For Rs 290, Internet Baffled

Multinational coffee chain Starbucks recently put up an advertisement for a new drink to their menu in Bengaluru - filter coffee. However, several internet users mocked the brand after it advertised "Ajji (grandmother) approved" filter coffee for Rs 290 plus taxes. A user took to share the advertisement and said no grandmother would agree to pay such exorbitant amount for a cup of filter coffee.

Adithya Venkatesan took to Twitter to share the picture of the advertisement and wrote, "Dear Starbucks, there's literally no ajji in god's green earth who'll approve a filter coffee for 290rs +taxes." In the advertisement, an elderly woman and a young man are shown sipping filter coffee while seated next to one other. The text reads, "AJJI APPROVED FILTER COFFEE FOR SHIVVU. Starting at 290*"

Since being shared, the tweet has amassed six lakh views and over 15,000 likes. Many people were surprised to see the pricing.

"Literally! They are too much!" remarked a user.

"There's aspirations. Then there's dreams. And then there's nightmares disguised as dreams," added a second person.

A third person commented, "Ajji will make one hot cuppa at home for roughly 'Char bucks'"

"Also I have noticed they never have the smallest size for regular coffee available at Bengaluru airport. And you are stuck with a big cup of essentially frothy milk that takes about 25 mins to finish and costs way more than what it is worth," said a user.

A grandmother commented on the post and said she is simply "shocked." "As an Ajji, I am shocked! Home and Darshini filter coffee at less than one tenth cost have my full approval..." she commented.

"My grandma will rise from her grave and pull me by my ears if I ever try to buy filter coffee for 290 + tax" commented another person.

This comes after the company had said last year that it would expand its menu to include masala chai and filter coffee, two favourites in India.

Police Surround Suspect In California Mass Shooting: Reports

Police were involved in a stand-off with the man they believe was responsible for killing 10 people in a mass shooting during Lunar New Year celebrations in California, media reports said Sunday.

Aerial footage showed a white transit van hemmed in by two armored police vehicles, while a large number of police cars stood nearby in Torrance, south of Los Angeles.

The development came as Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department released images of the man they are looking for.

Images, apparently from surveillance cameras, show an Asian man wearing a beanie hat and glasses.

"Travel Partner": Chahal Shares Hilarious Picture Of Team India Cricketer

Indian cricket team spinner Yuzvendra Chahal took to Instagram to post a hilarious picture of teammate Kuldeep Yadav while travelling to Indore for the third ODI encounter against New Zealand. The two spinners are close friends and on Sunday, Chahal transformed Kuldeep into a lady using one of the filters in the social media platform. The picture prompted hilarious reactions from users on social media and Chahal also captioned the Instagram story “Travel Partner” - something that left a lot of people confused for some time.

gv80sre8

India's relentless pace attack ran through a fragile New Zealand batting line-up as the hosts cantered to an eight-wicket win in the second ODI to seal the three-match series in Raipur on Saturday.

The Mohammed Shami-led attack produced an incisive effort to bowl out New Zealand for a meagre 108 before India knocked off the runs in 20.1 overs. Rohit Sharma hit a sublime 50 off 51 balls while Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 40 off 53 deliveries. It was an emphatic win but the sea of fans that had flocked the remotely located Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium for Raipur's first international game was left wanting for more due to the early finish.

Shami (3/18) and Mohammed Siraj (1/10) made life tough for the batters with their high-quality seam bowling reducing New Zealand to a dismal 15 for five after Rohit opted to bowl. The odd ball stopping made the New Zealand batters' job tougher though the Indian openers made batting look easy in the evening.

The third and final ODI will be played in Indore on Tuesday.

India's updated ODI squad against New Zealand: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, KS Bharat (wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Rajat Patidar, Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik

Bizarre UFO-Like Cloud Formation Over Turkey Stuns Internet

A rare cloud formation resembling an unidentified flying object (UFO) was spotted floating over Bursa, Turkey, on Thursday morning. According to The Guardian, the almost circular cloud, known as a lenticular cloud, remained intact for about an hour. Several internet users captured the rare phenomena on their phones. It appeared at sunrise and featured a large hole in the middle.

"#Turkey an unusual dawn this morning. Footage of a rare natural phenomenon called #UFO lenticular/spying foehn clouds," one user wrote while sharing images and video of the UFO-like cloud.

Take a look below:

"A majestic lenticular cloud spotted over Bursa, Turkey today," said another user.

The videos and images of the bizarre-looking cloud have gone viral across the world. Hundreds of social media users said that the cloud looked like a UFO. However, Turkey's state Meteorological Serviced reportedly explained that the rare phenomenon was simply a "lenticular cloud".

According to The Guardian, lenticular clouds are known for their curved, flying saucer-like appearance. They are usually found at heights between 2,000 and 5,000 meters.

As per Fox News, lenticular clouds are formed when the layer of the atmosphere is just on the cusp of saturation, meaning they are formed as a result of strong wind fluctuations over hills and mountains when the air is stable and moist. They most often form in winter, but it is still possible to see them at other times of the year.

These types of clouds can be a signal of precipitation within the next day or so as the atmosphere moistens ahead of the incoming storm.

In this case, a weak cold front was approaching western Turkey on Thursday. Bursa also lies at the base of a mountain range, which makes the phenomenon more likely.

"Nothing There, No Regrets": Biden Downplays Classified Documents Row

President Joe Biden on Thursday downplayed the furor over the discovery of old classified documents improperly stored in his personal belongings, saying "there's nothing there."

Asked by reporters during a trip to California about the issue, he said: "I think you're going to find there's nothing there."

"I have no regrets. I'm following what the lawyers have told me they want me to do. It's exactly what we're doing. There's no there there."

Biden's defiant comments came just over a week after news first emerged that around a dozen secret documents dating from his time as vice president to Barack Obama had been found sitting in a former Biden office space. A handful more documents were subsequently discovered in the garage and home of the president in Delaware.

The uproar has engulfed the White House and threatened to overshadow what allies expect to be the Democrat's announcement in the near future that he's seeking a second term in the 2024 election.

Although the case is far less serious than Republican Donald Trump's hauling off of hundreds of documents from the White House to his Florida residence after leaving office, Biden is under severe pressure from the media, Republicans in Congress and a Justice Department probe run by a special counsel.

After days of the White House going on the defensive and refusing to answer reporters' questions, Biden sought to strike back, insisting that he is acting properly in a situation that the White House argues was nothing more than an accidental misplacing of the materials.

"Look," Biden said, after initially showing displeasure that reporters raised the question while he was in California to show support for victims of massive flooding and weather damage.

"We found a handful of documents... were filed in the wrong place. We immediately turned them over to the Archives and the Justice Department. We're fully cooperating and looking forward to getting this resolved quickly," he said.

Politically explosive

The issue, which first came to light in a CBS News report on January 9, caught the White House badly off guard, denting Biden's brand as a return to competency and honesty after the scandal-filled Trump years.

In addition to tarnishing Biden, the appointment of a special counsel to oversee the Justice Department investigation into his handling of the vice presidential documents is widely seen as weakening the ongoing probe by a different special counsel into Trump's case.

Trump, who is himself seeking a second term in 2024, repeatedly refused to cooperate with the authorities trying to retrieve his far bigger haul of classified documents. However, prosecution of the Republican would now seem less likely, with the Justice Department possibly wishing to avoid seeming to treat Trump more harshly in what is already a politically explosive situation.

Congressional Republicans, who took control of the US House of Representatives this month -- with far-right conservatives holding the balance of power -- have already promised fierce probes of their own.

On Tuesday, the White House accused Republicans of "faking outrage" over Biden's documents.

Congress Raises Jammu And Kashmir Status As Rahul Gandhi Resumes Yatra

The Congress marked the beginning of the Jammu and Kashmir leg of Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' criticising the central government's decision to revoke the special status of the former state, calling it a "grave insult" to the people of the region.

The statement was made by senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, who called for the restoration of the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir, stating that it is the least the BJP-led government at the centre could do to make amends.

"I think Jammu and Kashmir must be restored full statehood at the earliest. That's the very least we can do. What was done on the 5th of August 2019 was a grave insult to the people of Jammu and Kashmir who have been with India for decades," said Mr Ramesh, who is the Congress General Secretary in charge of communications.

Mr Ramesh also pointed out that special status was not limited to Jammu and Kashmir, as there are several states in India which enjoy special status under Article 371 of the Constitution.

Due to security concerns, a significant portion of the yatra in Jammu and Kashmir will be completed by bus. The march began in September from the southern tip of the country in Kanyakumari and has travelled about 3,400 km in 125 days.

"Because of the cold, topography and security considerations, a good part of the Jammu to Srinagar march will be done by bus. But at least there will be three days of padyatra from Anantnag to Srinagar in Kashmir," said Mr Ramesh.

The yatra is set to conclude with a mega rally in Srinagar, which is expected to be attended by leaders from nearly two dozen national parties. Mr Ramesh stated that the yatra is aimed at "reimagining politics" and transforming the public image of Rahul Gandhi.

"Congress has lost what it stood for, and it is a major attempt by Rahul Gandhi to sharpen the ideological stance of the Congress," Mr Ramesh said.

With tight security in place, Rahul Gandhi began the final leg of his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir. He was surrounded by a large number of security forces as he walked in the rain and briefly put on a jacket, a departure from his trademark t-shirt attire during the yatra.

After entering Jammu and Kashmir, Mr Gandhi stated that it was his homecoming and that he wanted to share the pain of the people.
