Woman Comes Home To Strangers In Pool After Tenant Rents It Out For $35

A Canadian woman returned home on Sunday to find a family of strangers swimming in her outdoor pool. Maryse Chausse was shocked to discover the family of five, who claimed they rented the pool through Swimply, a mobile app that allows users to lease private pools by the hour.

The fake listing, which included photos of Ms Chausse's pool and deck, was posted without her knowledge or consent. The description allowed loud music, smoking, and alcohol, but forbade parties. Pets were also permitted, with the condition that renters would clean up after them. The family paid $35 (approximately Rs 2,200) to use the pool, but Ms Chausse was not the one who posted the listing.

Ms Chausse told Noovo Info that there was a car in the parking lot when she got home. "There was a little family swimming in the pool, with three cute little girls," she said.

Swimply removed the listing after Ms Chausse reported it, but couldn't explain how it was posted without her confirmation.

They responded to the incident, saying they had a "robust system" in place to prevent and detect fraudulent activities. "We partner with several best-in-class identity and fraud detection companies to ensure our platform maintains a high standard of safety and can be trusted by our community," the company said in a statement.

However, they acknowledged that "bad actors" sometimes attempt to misuse their platform, and when a fraudulent listing is flagged, they take immediate action.

Ms Chausse believes a former tenant, who moved out in 2022, may be responsible for the fake listing. "Is this the first time she's done this? I can't say. We're not always at home," she said.

She called the police, but they said they couldn't take action since the family hadn't committed a crime.

Maryse Chausse was concerned the situation could have gotten worse. She said the family replaced the ladder she removed after cleaning the pool, and that she could have performed a chemical treatment that morning, potentially putting the family at risk.

In May, a California couple discovered that a stranger rented their backyard pool through Swimply, just a week after they listed their home for sale. The couple only found out about the scam when their pool caretaker spotted an unapproved pool party.

Indian Influencer Under Fire For Mocking Chinese Locals: "Racist, Uncouth"

Jaspreet Kaur Dyora, a social media influencer from India, is facing criticism online for her disrespectful behaviour while travelling in China. A video posted by Ms Kaur shows her roaming the streets of China and mocking the locals by passing derogatory and rude comments in Hindi.

The video begins with Ms Kaur saying, “Jaise aap log corona de sakte ho world ko, toh kya mein aapko trauma de sakti hu? (Just like how you gave the world corona, can I give you trauma in exchange?)''

Ms Kaur's comments in the video include asking a food vendor about the type of animal they slaughtered, inquiring about the quality of a bridge because it's "made in China," and asking people if they're wearing knock-off brands. She asks them if they are from Sarojini Nagar, as they could be seen wearing a ''Gucci copy.''.

This video was shared in March, though it has gone viral now.

Here's the video:

The video has faced severe backlash, with netizens calling out her behaviour as ''offensive'' and ''racist''. Many expressed disappointment, stating that there's a thin line between being funny and being disrespectful and accused her of defaming India.

One user wrote, ''Why do some people want to act like this and bring shame to others? I don't understand.''

Another wrote, ''This makes me sad to see this type of content. There is a thin line between being funny and disrespectful. This might get you lots of engagement for sure, but it won't last long as a person. They are the sweetest people. Sorry from India.''

A third said, ''These words are harassment, and it is criminal offence, you will be charged if someone report to Indian police or Chinese police.'' A fourth stated, ''These type of influencers do more harm than good. Totally racist and uncouth way to treat random people for no reason and film them.''

A fifth added, ''This is not good. Disrespecting other human being in their own country. If someone from Europe does the same in India, how would we feel?''

Killer Whales Sink Yacht In Mediterranean Sea In Harrowing 2-Hour Attack

A $128,000 yacht was attacked and sunk by a group of killer whales in the Mediterranean Sea, leaving the crew in shock. According to New York Post, Robert Powell, 59, and his crew were just 22 hours into their 10-day trip from Vilamoura, Portugal, to Greece on Wednesday when they saw killer whales approaching them.

The orcas, typically known for their intelligence and curiosity, began to exhibit aggressive behaviour, ramming the yacht with incredible force. The five orcas circled the 39-foot sailing boat and, in a coordinated assault, took turns ramming it to pieces around 8 p.m.

''To me, they were not playing at all, they knew exactly what they were doing. They knew the weak points of the boat, and they knew how to sink it. Their sole intention was to sink the boat, and that was it,'' Mr Powell, who was meant to be celebrating his birthday aboard the boat, said.

The pod of five first targeted the rudder, rendering the sailboat unable to steer after approximately 15 strikes. The orcas then broke apart and systematically attacked distinct parts of the boat's exterior, with one concentrating on the keel, another on the stern, and the others targeting other vulnerable areas.

''They were circling. It was like watching wolves hunt. They were taking it in turns to come in — sometimes two would come in at the same time and hit it. So obviously pretty terrifying,'' Mr Powell added.

The crew, caught off guard by the ferocity of the assault, attempted to steer the vessel away from the whales, but their efforts were in vain. The orcas seemed determined to sink the yacht, displaying an unusual level of aggression.

Fortunately, a Spanish salvage vessel intervened, evacuating the crew just moments before the sailboat plunged 130 feet into the Mediterranean, disappearing beneath the waves.

Killer whales are known for their complex social structures and typically do not exhibit unprovoked aggression towards human vessels. While there have been reports of orcas interacting with boats, such extreme behaviour is rare. Some experts speculate that the attack could have been triggered by environmental stressors, changes in their habitat, or even previous negative encounters with boats.

Deadly Rat Disease Spreads to Humans, Kills 4 In US

A health alert has been issued in the state of Arizona, in the United States, after a rodent-borne hantavirus killed four people. The virus spreads to humans through droplets from the urine, saliva, or faeces of the rats.

From January to July, the Arizona Department of Health Services documented seven instances of Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome, a serious and occasionally lethal respiratory disease.

Two cases related to this deadly virus have also been found in California. The virus, primarily carried by deer mice in the Grand Canyon State, causes symptoms such as fever, headache, and muscle pain, which can rapidly progress to difficulty breathing. While hantavirus is not spread from person to person, it can occur in various regions and is not limited to a specific area.

According to the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), hantaviruses are a family of viruses spread mainly by rodents and can cause varied disease syndromes in people worldwide. This can cause hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS) and hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS), the CDC website says.

Symptoms:

Hantavirus symptoms start with fatigue, fever, muscle aches, headaches, chills, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Late symptoms include coughing and shortness of breath, with a 38% mortality rate for hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) symptoms appear 1-8 weeks post-exposure, causing headaches, pain, fever, chills, nausea, and blurred vision. Severe cases may lead to low blood pressure, shock, vascular leakage, and kidney failure. Recovery can take weeks or months.

Treatment:

The CDC says there is no specific treatment, cure, or vaccine for hantavirus infection. However, if the infected are recognised early on and are provided medical care in an intensive care unit, they may do better. In intensive care, patients are intubated and given oxygen therapy to help them through the period of severe respiratory distress.

Prevention:

According to the Centres for Disease Control, rodent control is the primary necessity to prevent hantavirus infections. Contact with rodent urine, droppings, saliva, and nesting materials should be avoided when cleaning rodent-infested areas.

Prince Harry Set To Inherit Millions On His 40th Birthday: Report

Prince Harry is set to receive a huge payout on his 40th birthday later this year, according to a report. The Duke of Sussex will turn 40 on September 15. In striking contrast to his elder brother Prince William, who received a ceremonial bell concert at Westminster Abbey on his 40th birthday, Prince Harry will inherit millions on his milestone birthday, thanks to arrangements made by his late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.

According to the Times, the late Queen Mother established a $90 million trust fund for her family, which listed that the Duke of Sussex would receive his share when he turned 40. Prince Harry will reportedly rake in around $8.5 million from his share, which is more than Prince William is slated to get.

However, Prince Harry would still have to pay taxes on his inheritance, while his elder brother would benefit from the tax-exempt Duchy of Cornwall - a private estate that funds his public, charitable and private activities.

"William will benefit from the vast wealth of the Duchy of Cornwall, a private estate that funds the public, charitable, and private activities of the king's heir," a source said, per New York Post. "As a result, Harry is likely to receive slightly more than half of the 14 million pounds allocated for the brothers," they added.

Also Read | World's Most Powerful Passports 2024 List Released: Indian Passport Ranks At...

With an estimated current net worth of about $60 million, Prince Harry's upcoming inheritance would be a welcome addition, the outlet noted.

Following their exit as senior working royals, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle settled in Montecito, California. Their net worth was largely boosted because of the several high-profile projects they've taken on since quitting royal life in 2020. These projects include a Netflix original, Prince Harry's tell-all memoir Spare, and Meghan Markle's 12-episode podcast, Archetypes.

According to the Post, Prince Harry is even considering publishing a follow-up book. The duo are also in for a big payday with the forthcoming launch of Meghan Markle's new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.

Mona Singh, who was last seen in the horror comedy Munjya, addresed the prevalent issue of ageism in the industry. Mona, who has been making her presence felt across mediums (OTT, big screen) shared she was worried about ageism in her 30s. She decided to take a break from television as no substantial role was coming her way. Recalling the days, Mona Singh told India Today, "30s mein yeh hua tha (It happened in my 30s). There was a gap, because I wasn't doing TV as I wanted to challenge myself as an actor. I was experimenting with theatre then. That was the time when there was this lull, and it made me wonder 'Is that really happening with me? I am not getting roles because I am 34-35'," said the Kaala Paani actor.

However, Mona's career took a new dimension with the boom in the OTT industry. Shifting to new space and medium, Mona re-discovered her potential after 2017. Also, characters are no more just black and white, and you can do grey shades, without being judged," said the Laal Singh Chaddha actor.

Even now, Mona is stedfast towards her goals  - she wants to break the barrier with new opportunities. "I want to play a cop, do action scenes. I am hungry for more and want to explore every genre. When it comes to picking projects, the script needs to make me go wow, and move me. It should have an impact and give me sleepless nights worrying about how I would do it, said Mona.

Mona Singh became a household name after she featured in the popular TV show Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, which marked her debut in the industry. The actress has also starred in TV shows like Kya Huaa Tera Vaada, Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar,Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do, Kavach...Kaali Shaktiyon Se. Donald Trump's Former Physician Shares New Details On Gunshot Wound

Donald Trump's former physician said Saturday that the Republican presidential candidate sustained a two-centimeter (almost one inch) gunshot wound during last week's attempted assassination, but that his ear is starting to heal.

The memo from former White House physician Ronny Jackson, now a hardline right-wing lawmaker from Texas, is one of the first detailed accounts of the injury Trump sustained when a young gunman opened fire at a rally in Pennsylvania one week ago, killing one bystander and wounding two others.

"The bullet passed, coming less than a quarter of an inch from entering his head, and struck the top of his right ear," wrote Jackson, who said he flew to see Trump in New Jersey late on the evening of the rally, and had been treating his ear ever since.

"The bullet track produced a 2cm wide wound that extended down to the cartilaginous surface of the ear. There was initially significant bleeding, following by a marked swelling of the entire upper ear," he continued.

The swelling has since gone down, and the wound "is beginning to granulate and heal properly," he wrote in the memo, published by Trump on his Truth Social network.

There is still some bleeding requiring a bandage, but "given the broad and blunt nature of the wound itself, no sutures were required," Jackson wrote.

Trump also underwent a CT scan of his head as he was treated for the wound by doctors at the hospital in Butler, Pennsylvania, he said.

"He will have further evaluations, including a comprehensive hearing exam, as needed," Jackson said.

Jackson, who retired from the Navy as a rear admiral last year, was first appointed to the White House medical unit under former president George W. Bush, then became the president's doctor in 2013, under Barack Obama.

But he gained national fame after effusively praising Trump's health and "great genes" in 2018, declaring: "I told the president that if he had a healthier diet over the last 20 years, he might live to be 200 years old."

Soon after, Trump nominated him to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs, but Jackson withdrew his name from consideration following allegations he had improperly handed out drugs and was sometimes drunk at work.

During his campaign for Congress, Jackson positioned himself as a close Trump supporter, endorsing the narrative that Obama had "weaponized" the government to spy on Trump.

He also broke ranks with public health officials on the coronavirus, saying that mask wearing should be a "personal choice," and he questioned Joe Biden's cognitive capacity to run for president.

US Billionaire Buys Dinosaur Skeleton For $45 Million, Sets Auction Records

Billionaire investor Ken Griffin, founder and CEO of hedge fund Citadel, has shattered auction records by splurging $44.6 million for a dinosaur skeleton. According to the New York Post, Mr Griffin purchased the largest and the most intact stegosaurus skeleton at Sotheby's on Wednesday, making it the most valuable fossil ever sold at auction.

Estimated to be 150 million years old, the behemoth dubbed "Apex," was excavated just outside present-day Dinosaur, Colorado, in May 2022 by palaeontologist Jason Cooper. According to Sotheby's, the Apex stegosaurus is the largest ever discovered, standing at an impressive 11 feet (3.3 meters) in height and 27 feet (8.2 meters) in length, with a remarkable 254 out of an estimated 319 bones preserved, making it nearly complete.

Mr Griffin secured the skeleton by outbidding six other participants in an auction that lasted 15 minutes. The skeleton, initially anticipated to sell for around $6 million, was purchased for $44.6 million, 11 times its lower estimate, marking a new record for dinosaur fossils.

Watch the auction video here:

''Apex' lived up to its name today, inspiring bidders globally to become the most valuable fossil ever sold at auction. This sale has been years in the making, and at every turn, we have worked closely with Jason Cooper, from the moment of its discovery in Dinosaur, Colorado, to its sale in New York,'' said Cassandra Hatton, Sotheby's global head of science and popular culture in a statement.

According to Forbes, the hedge fund chief is a regular donor to the Republican party and has a net worth of approximately $37.8 billion. He now plans to loan the skeleton to institutions across the United States instead of keeping it for his private collection.

"Apex was born in America and is going to stay in America!" he said following the sale, according to CBS News.

In 2017, he donated $16.5 to Chicago's Field Museum to fund an exhibit featuring the largest tyrannosaurus rex skeleton ever discovered.

Riots Break Out In London, Bus Set On Fire, Police Car Flipped Over

A riot has broken out in UK's Leeds after police were called to attend an incident involving some agency workers and children, officials said on Thursday night.

According to West Yorkshire Police, they were called to an ongoing incident at Luxor Street, Harehills, at 5 p.m. on Thursday. On arrival, officers "found an ongoing disturbance which involved some agency workers and some children."

Soon, a crowd started to gather at the location after which officers decided to remove the agency workers and the children to a safe place. However, tensions grew and "pockets of disorder" broke out in the area.

Purported footage shared on social media showed a large crowd of people in the street and a police car being flipped onto its side while a bus was being set on fire.

"More officers have been deployed to the area to assist with the management of this incident. Some road closures are also being implemented and people are advised to avoid the area at this time," the West Yorkshire Police said in a statement.

"No injuries have been reported and enquiries are ongoing at the scene," it added.

UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper took to social media platform X to condemn the violence. She posted: "I am appalled at the shocking scenes and attacks on police vehicles & public transport in Leeds tonight (Thursday night). Disorder of this nature has no place in our society. My thanks go to West Yorkshire police for their response. I am being kept regularly updated."

"Animal Cruelty": Abu Dhabi's First Owl Cafe Goes Viral, Internet Angry

All of us have heard about pet-friendly cafes across the globe. In a first, Abu Dhabi is now home to the first owl cafe in the Middle East. Nine owls reside at Boomah Cafe, where you can learn about them and even hold them for 70 Dirhams (about Rs 1500). The birds are cared for by trainers. However, the now-viral clip did not sit well with internet users who called it "animal cruelty".

The cafe gained popularity after various videos of the unique experience went viral online. Cafe owner Mohamed Al Shehhi told Time Out that "the wellbeing of the owls comes as the top priority for the cafe;".

He stated that the eatery opens at 2 pm every day. This allows the owls "enough rest all night and all morning, and while closing, they are released to move around freely". He told the outlet, "Some of the owls at Boomah can never live in the wild, let's take Venus (the Tawny Owl), for example. She hatched with one wing being shorter than the other, disabling her from flying at high altitudes or for long distances. While being cared for by Boomah team, Venus is now a healthy eight-year-old owl living happily despite the disability."

Mohamed Al Shehhi added that the idea was inspired by the Japanese Owl Cafes. "We enhanced the idea in a way that would satisfy the Middle Eastern society," he concluded.

A video of the cafe was recently shared by content creator Little Foodie on Instagram. In the clip, several owls along with their name tags and species information are seen near a wooden board.

They wrote in the caption, "The owners have stated multiple times that Boomah opens daily at 2 PM until 10 PM (for 8 hours only) to allow the owls to rest and roam free in an air conditioned room as the wellbeing of the owls is their top priority. Some of the owls cannot live/survive in the wild due to disabilities preventing them from flying hence are taken care of by trained staff." They added, "The owls' room is divided by a glass incase you don't want to interact with them and just watch from a distance.. but if you wish to get up close, it costs AED 70 per person."

Since being shared, the video has over 84,000 likes and 1.7 million views on Instagram.

"I mean birds should be free unless these birds need rehab and you are keeping them till healthy and setting them free? Seems so wrong to make money of caged animals," said a user.

Another said, "Can we stop using animals for entertainment and money? This is wrong on every level"

"This is animal cruelty," remarked a person.

A user commented, "When will animal entertainment be stopped for good! Us humans are appalling!! These birds are trapped in chains, HEARTBREAKING"

"This sends nothing but the wrong message to wildlife. Injured (if they actually are) owls should be in a sanctuary and only used for education and not as props or toys for random people," added a user.

"Terrible to see those poor birds and what sad lives they have and totally against their nature. This should not be allowed and is not what should be supported by our community. PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE," said another person.

Is Earth Orbiting Sun Or A Point In Space? Read This Fascinating Analysis

Our early conceptions of planets orbiting perfectly around the Sun might need to be slightly revised. While the Sun is unquestionably dominant in our Solar System, a fresh look at planetary motion highlights an interesting detail: Earth isn't actually orbiting the Sun.

The reason for this update is the barycenter, the center of mass in an orbiting body system. Imagine a cosmic playground where the Sun and Earth serve as the fulcrum around which both objects balance and rotate. This point, known as the barycenter, is not fixed within the Sun.

Although the Sun is the heavyweight champion of our Solar System, it doesn't always claim the barycenter as its throne. The immense mass of the Sun pulls Earth into its orbit, but according to Newton's law of universal gravitation, this attraction is a two-way street. Earth, in its own small way, exerts a gravitational pull on the Sun too.

While Earth's tug is negligible compared to the Sun's grip, it's enough to nudge the barycenter slightly. This point typically resides very close to the Sun's center but not always. The influence of giant planets like Jupiter and Saturn can occasionally pull the barycenter outside the Sun's boundaries.

NASA explains, "Kepler's third law describes the relationship between the masses of two objects mutually revolving around each other and the determination of orbital parameters."

NASA further elaborates, "Consider a small star in orbit about a more massive one. Both stars actually revolve about a common center of mass, which is called the barycenter. This is true no matter what the size or mass of each of the objects involved. Measuring a star's motion about its barycenter with a massive planet is one method that has been used to discover planetary systems associated with distant stars."

Due to the Sun's immense mass, the barycenter usually lies very close to, but not necessarily within, the Sun's center. The influence of giant planets like Jupiter and Saturn can occasionally pull the barycenter outside the Sun. Therefore, Earth's orbit is more accurately described as a path around this shared center of mass, rather than strictly around the Sun itself.

"Planets orbit the Sun in general terms," Planetary astronomer Dr James O'Donoghue explains on X (Twitter), "but *technically* they don't orbit the Sun alone because the gravitational influence of (mainly) Jupiter means planets must orbit a new point in space."

"The planets do orbit the Sun of course, we are just being pedantic about the situation," he added. "The natural thinking is that we orbit the Sun's center, but that very rarely happens, i.e. it's very rare for the solar system's center of mass to align with the Sun's center."

Trump Evacuated From Rally Stage After Apparent Shots Heard: Report

Former president Donald Trump was rushed off stage by Secret Service agents Saturday after a series of loud bangs that sounded like possible gunshots were heard at the start of a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

Trump was seen with blood on his right ear as he was surrounded by security agents, who rushed him off the stage as he pumped his first to the crowd.

The "former President is safe," the Secret Service said after Trump was bundled into an SUV and driven away.

"This is an active crime scene," Secret Service officers told reporters, ordering them out of the area.

"We saw a lot of people go down, looking confused. I heard the shots, it sounded like between firecrackers and a small caliber handgun," said John Yeykal from Franklin, Pennsylvania, who was attending his first Trump rally.

The disturbance took place shortly after Trump took the stage at his final campaign rally before the Republican party convention starts on Monday in Milwaukee.

President Joe Biden has received an initial breifing on the incident, the White House said.

NEET-UG Counselling From July 3rd Week, Don't Want Retest: Centre To Court

A day before the Supreme Court hears a clutch of petitions on the alleged irregularities in NEET-UG, the Centre on Wednesday submitted an affidavit in the court stating that a comprehensive analysis of the results has revealed that there was no large-scale malpractice or evidence of a local set of candidates benefiting.

The Union government also reiterated its stance that it does not intend to hold a retest of the medical entrance exam. Doing so on the basis of "unsubstantiated suspicions", it said, would burden nearly 24 lakh students, who had appeared for the exam on May 5.

Importantly, the Centre has said that it intends to start the counselling process for NEET-UG, which is the final stage for admissions, from the third week of July in four phases. If any candidate is found to have benefited from any irregularity, their counselling will be cancelled in any of the phases or even after, it said.

While some petitioners in the Supreme Court have demanded that the medical entrance exam be held again in view of the irregularities and the alleged paper leak, others have petitioned against a retest.

Bell Curve

In its affidavit, the Centre said experts from IIT Madras have carried out a technical analysis of data from NEET-UG 2024 and found no indication of mass malpractice or a localised set of candidates being benefited, leading to abnormal scores.

The data revealed that there is an overall increase in the marks obtained by students, specifically in the range of 550 to 720, and this rise has been seen across cities and centres.

The Centre said the increase can be attributed to a 25% reduction in syllabus, and the fact that high scorers were spread out points to a very low likelihood of mass malpractice.

The analysis also showed that the distribution of marks follows a bell-shaped curve, which is seen in any large-scale examination, and was further evidence of there not being an abnormality, the affidavit stated.

Counselling Plan

The Centre "respectfully submitted" that it intends to start the counselling process in the third week of July and conduct it in four rounds. The government said that IIT Madras has been requested to investigate the people involved in irregularities through data analysis and if evidence from that, or other sources, reveals that any candidate is found to have benefited, their counselling will be cancelled at any stage during or after the process.

On the re-examination issue, the Centre said it is not in support of that because it does not want nearly 24 lakh candidates burdened on the basis of "unsubstantiated suspicions".

In an earlier affidavit too, the government had said scrapping the 2024 exam in its entirety would "seriously jeopardise" the future of lakhs of honest candidates who had appeared for it. In the absence of proof of any large-scale breach of confidentiality in the examination, it had said, taking such a step would not be rational.

In addition to the CBI investigation, the Centre has also proposed a seven-member expert panel to consider all the issues raised, so that no such leaks or irregularities happen in future exams.

PM Modi Arrives In Austria, 1st Visit By Indian PM In Over 40 Years

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Vienna on Tuesday from Moscow on a two-day visit to Austria during which the two nations will explore ways to further deepen their bilateral relationship and closer cooperation on the many geopolitical challenges.

It is the first visit by an Indian prime minister to Austria in over 40 years, the last being of Indira Gandhi in 1983.

Prime Minister Modi will call on the President of the Republic of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, and hold talks with Chancellor of Austria Karl Nehammer on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister and Chancellor will also address business leaders from India and Austria.

Ahead of his visit to Austria, Modi on Sunday said that the shared values of democracy, freedom and the rule of law form the bedrock upon which the two countries will build an ever-closer partnership.

Modi's remark came a day after Austrian Chancellor Nehammer posted on 'X', "I very much look forward to welcoming Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, the world's largest democracy, next week in Vienna." "This visit is a special honour as it marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in over 40 years and a significant milestone as we celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations with India," he said.

"We will have the opportunity to talk about further deepening our bilateral relationship and closer cooperation on the many geopolitical challenges," the Austrian chancellor said.

Responding to Nehammer, Modi said, "Thank you, Chancellor Karl Nehammer. It is indeed an honour to visit Austria to mark this historic occasion. I look forward to our discussions on strengthening the bonds between our nations and exploring new avenues of cooperation." "The shared values of democracy, freedom and rule of law form the bedrock upon which we will build an ever closer partnership," he said.

As PM Visits Russia, Europe's Tallest Tower Lit Up In Indian Flag Colours

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi landing in Russia today for talks with President Vladimir Putin, the Ostankino Tower in Moscow, the tallest free-standing structure in Europe, was illuminated with the colours of the Indian flag. This is PM Modi's first trip to Russia since the onset of Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

Standing at 1,771 feet (540m), the Ostankino TV Tower is the world's fourth tallest and Europe's highest. It was erected in 1967 by the well-known Soviet engineer, Nikolai Nikitin.

Prime Minister Modi commenced his two-day visit focusing on bolstering bilateral ties in key sectors such as energy, trade, and defence. Upon his arrival at Vnukovo-II airport, PM Modi was greeted by Russia's First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. Mr Manturov, who had previously welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit, accompanied PM Modi to his hotel.

"Landed in Moscow. Looking forward to further deepening the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between our nations, especially in futuristic areas of cooperation. Stronger ties between our nations will greatly benefit our people," PM Modi posted on X.

This visit marks Modi's first trip to Russia since 2019 and his first since the Ukraine conflict began in February 2022.

The Indian Prime Minister was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour at the airport and received a warm welcome from members of the Indian community and Russian artists outside The Carlton Hotel in Moscow.

"PM is set to hold substantive discussions with President Vladimir Putin to take forward the special partnership between the two countries. He will also interact with the Indian community in Russia," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on 'X'.

The focus of PM Modi's summit with President Putin is likely to be on boosting bilateral cooperation in trade, defence and energy.

This Balcony In Sydney Has Been Listed For Rent At Rs 81,000 Per Month

In a bizarre Facebook advertisement, a landlord in Sydney has put up an enclosed balcony with a bed for rent at $969 (Rs 81,003) a month. The Facebook Marketplace listing describes the balcony in Haymarket in Sydney's inner suburbs as a ''sunny room'' that is fit to accommodate one person. Images of the balcony, which have gone viral on other social media websites as well, show the room decked out with a single bed, a mirror, blinds, and a rug over tiled flooring.

Glass sliding doors connect the balcony to the rest of the property, and the reflection in a full-length mirror shows that an adjacent wall is also made of glass. The landlord said the room was ready for a prospective tenant to "move in now," with the weekly rent "including bills."

The balcony is attached to a two-bedroom apartment, which is available for rent separately at $1300 a week, excluding bills. ''Share the bathroom with only 1 person. Ready to move in now. Easy to go anywhere,'' the listing read.

Internet users were left amused by the post and reacted with jokes. ''That's an amazing view,'' one user wrote, while another commented, ''Good luck with that! You are crazy.'' A third said, ''well it gets great light.''

Notably, Sydney has seen a notable increase in rental prices for houses, reflecting strong demand and limited supply. Sydney's median rent remained at a record high of $750 a week in the 2024 June quarter, recent data from Domain found, as per 9News.com.

Factors such as low interest rates, economic recovery, and population growth have contributed to the rising rental prices. The increase in rental prices has raised concerns about housing affordability, particularly for low- to middle-income households. Many residents are struggling to afford the high rents, leading to increased financial stress and housing insecurity.

In highly competitive areas, prospective tenants are often forced into bidding wars, offering above the listed rental price to secure a property. This practice further inflated rental prices, making it harder for those with limited budgets to find housing.

"Hindi Film Producers...": Mahabharat Actor Praises Kalki 2898 AD

Nitish Bharadwaj, who became a household name after playing Lord Krishna in BR Chopra's Mahabharat, is the latest celebrity to join the Kalki 2898 AD fan club. Impressed by Nag Ashwin's vision, Nitish Bharadwaj shared his thoughts about the film in an interview with News 18. "(Nag Ashwin has) made clever use of Mahabharat characters and the futuristic birth of Mahavishnu's last avatar Kalki. Hindi film producers must learn from the South as they are so deeply rooted in our scriptures and epics that even their inspirational versions seem correct. No doubt, Kalki seems to have definite visual inspiration from Mad Max movies. Yet, it seemed different because eventually, the sets and production design were less important to me than the foreground story. Ashwin merged the 2 extremely well," Nitish Bharadwaj told the news portal.

When asked if he was reminded of his shooting days from the sets of Mahabharat while watching the film, Nitish Bharadwaj told News 18, "Yes because the epic Mahabharat is extremely close to my heart. And no because Ashwin created a different world before me." The veteran actor also expressed his wish to feature as Lord Krishna in the sequel. He jokingly said, "In the sequel, Ashwin need not hide Krishna's face, I am available (laughs)." For the unversed, Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD intertwines several stories from Mahabharat with a dystopian future. Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan's characters are directly inspired from Mahabharat.

In his review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave the film 2.5 stars out of 5 and he wrote, "On the acting front, Prabhas leads the way and not only because the film revolves around him. His strong presence serves as a counterpoint to Amitabh Bachchan's towering Ashwatthama - the deathless warrior is an eight-footer. The latter's voice is, as always, an integral part of the character. Deepika Padukone, playing one of the central figures, is splendid as the pregnant woman on the run."

Headlined by a stellar cast, Kalki 2898 AD has minted ₹ 466 crore since its release on June 27. Kalki 2898 AD features Prabhas as Bhairava, Deepika Padukone as Sumati, Disha Patani as Roxie, Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwathama and Kamal Haasan as Supreme Yaskin The movie also includes cameo appearances by Mrunal Thakur, Ram Gopal Varma, SS Rajamouli, Vijay Deverakonda and Dulquer Salmaan. Kalki 2898 AD released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

Nobody Can Expect To Escape: Kiren Rijiju On Notice Against Rahul Gandhi

A day after the BJP submitted a notice against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha over alleged inaccuracies in his speech, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said any member trying to mislead the House will not get away easily and the "rules will get them".

Mr Rijiju was referring to a notice submitted in Lok Sabha by BJP member Bansuri Swaraj urging the Speaker to take cognisance of her notice against certain inaccuracies in Mr Gandhi's speech on the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address.

"When the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha kept on lying about many things, including facts and figures, a notice was put to the Speaker and we have requested the Speaker to take appropriate action. We are waiting for the action," Mr Rijiju said in response to questions on the issue.

The minister said rules apply equally to everyone as no member is above the Chair in the House.

"Nobody can expect to escape. There is no special privilege for anyone just because he comes from a privileged family," Mr Rijiju said.

"If anybody wants to misuse the position in the House to mislead the House, he will not easily get away. Rule will get them," the Parliamentary Affairs minister said.

After Mr Gandhi's speech on Monday on the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address, Union ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Mr Rijiju accused the Congress leader of making "untruthful" claims about a host of issues, including the Agnipath scheme and the compensation paid to locals in Ayodhya.

Under Direction 115 of the Speaker, a member wishing to point out any mistake or inaccuracy in a statement made by a minister or any other member can, before referring to the matter in the House, write to the Speaker pointing out the particulars of the mistake or the inaccuracy and seek permission to raise the issue.

The member may place before the Speaker such evidence that she or he has in support of the allegation.

The Speaker can bring the matter to the notice of the minister or the member concerned to ascertain the factual position.

Steve Ballmer Is Now Richer Than Bill Gates, A First For Microsoft Employees

Steve Ballmer passed Bill Gates on Monday to become the sixth-richest person in the world, the first time the former chief executive officer of Microsoft Corp. has been wealthier than the company's co-founder.

The move came as Microsoft shares rose to a fresh record, bringing their total gain this year to 21%. The company, through its partnership with OpenAI, has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the artificial intelligence rally that has powered the US stock market higher.

More than 90% of Ballmer's $157.2 billion net worth is in Microsoft shares, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Gates, meanwhile, has diversified his $156.7 billion fortune: About half his wealth is held through Cascade Investment, which was created with the proceeds of Microsoft stock sales and dividends. He also owns a $21 billion stake in waste-management company Republic Services Inc. through Cascade.

Gates, 68, has been slowly reducing his fortune through philanthropy. Along with his ex-wife Melinda French Gates and his friend Warren Buffett, Gates has funneled billions of dollars of his personal money to build up the $75 billion Gates Foundation, one of the biggest charitable organizations in the world.

Since they started the foundation more than two decades ago, Gates and his former wife have given almost $60 billion from their personal fortunes. French Gates recently stepped down as co-chair of the foundation and received $12.5 billion to use for her own charitable purposes.

In 2010, Gates, French Gates and Buffett also founded the Giving Pledge, an organization that encourages the world's richest people to give away the majority of their fortunes in their lifetimes or their wills. Ballmer, 68, who has not signed the Giving Pledge, has his own philanthropic work but nowhere on the scale of Gates.

Gates founded Microsoft with his friend Paul Allen in 1975 and led it until 2000, when Ballmer - one of the company's earliest employees - replaced him as CEO. Ballmer retired in 2014 and became Microsoft's largest shareholder that same year. He bought the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers for $2 billion in 2014, an investment that is estimated to be worth $4.6 billion today.

Doctor Chops Off Boyfriend's Genitals For Ghosting Her On Their Wedding

A female doctor allegedly chopped off the private part of her boyfriend in Bihar's Saran district on Monday.

Police have arrested the doctor under the relevant sections of attempt to murder.

The man, a councillor of Ward No. 12 in Madhaura block, has been admitted to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for treatment.

The accused claimed that she had an affair with the man for the last five years but he was refusing to marry her. She somehow convinced him for a registered marriage in court. Accordingly, she reached the court for the marriage but the victim did not turn up.
