Kabir Khan Reacts To Trump's 100% Tariff On Movies Made Outside US
Filmmaker Kabir Khan has weighed in on US President Donald Trump's latest tariff declaration targeting movies produced outside the United States. Trump, who has been vocal about imposing tariffs on multiple sectors, announced that he intends to levy "a 100 percent tariff on any and all movies that are made outside of the United States."
Kabir Khan Questions Feasibility
Responding to Trump's announcement, Kabir Khan expressed confusion over how such a tariff would even be applied. He told NDTV, "I have no idea what he means when he says 'made outside of the United States' because every second Hollywood film is shot outside of the USA, the VFX is executed outside of the USA. And tariff on what? The ticket price? His statement is too broad to be understood properly. Firstly, let's see if he remembers this tomorrow when he wakes up."
Trump's Tariff Plans
For the unversed, in a series of posts on Truth Social, President Trump argued that America's film industry has been undermined by international productions. "California, with its weak and incompetent Governor, has been particularly hard hit! Therefore, in order to solve this long time, never ending problem, I will be imposing a 100 percent Tariff on any and all movies that are made outside of the United States," he wrote.
Trump claimed that foreign countries had "stolen" America's moviemaking business, comparing it to taking 'candy from a baby." The announcement comes amid ongoing struggles in Hollywood, which has seen steep declines in box office revenue, strikes by the Writers Guild and other unions, and significant job losses over the past two years.
Trump's tariff threats are not limited to the film industry. He has also announced plans to impose heavy duties on furniture imports, arguing that states like North Carolina and South Carolina have seen their furniture businesses decimated by foreign competition, especially from China and Vietnam.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Shares Health Update On Rajvir Jawanda
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who visited Fortis Hospital in Mohali to meet Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda, has shared an update on his health.
Speaking to reporters outside the hospital, Mann said that the singer, who was injured in a serious road accident, is now in a "better condition than yesterday," although he remains unconscious. Mann added that Rajvir had been brought to the hospital in a very serious state.
"Rajvir Jawanda was the victim of a terrible road accident. He has been undergoing treatment here since yesterday. His fans worldwide are praying for his recovery. Today, I met his family and doctors. His condition is better than yesterday. When he was brought in yesterday, his heart and other organs were not functioning properly... He is currently unconscious. Recovery from head injuries is slow... But advice from other expert doctors is also being sought. The doctors said that yesterday, he was not even in a good enough condition to be taken for an MRI," said Mann.
According to a statement issued by Fortis Hospital, Mohali, the accident took place on Saturday, 27 September, when Rajvir Jawanda was admitted in an "extremely critical condition" at 1:45 pm.
He had sustained severe head and spinal injuries in the road accident earlier that morning. The singer was initially taken to the Civil Hospital, where he suffered a cardiac arrest, before being transferred to Fortis Hospital.
"On arrival, he was immediately assessed by the Emergency and Neurosurgery teams. Detailed examinations and investigations were carried out, and he was placed on advanced life support at Fortis Hospital Mohali," the statement added.
Meanwhile, Rajvir is being treated by a team of neurosurgeons and critical care doctors, who continue to closely monitor his condition.
Ludhiana-born Rajvir is loved for his songs Kali Jawande Di, Mera Dil, and Sardari. He has also acted in Punjabi films and is admired for his energetic stage presence. Best known for his passion for bikes, he often shared videos of his rides through the hills.

Why Shanaka Was Given Not Out vs India In Super Over Despite Being Run Out
A bizarre incident occurred during the Super Over of the India vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 match on Friday. On the fourth ball of the Super Over, Dasun Shanaka was given out caught behind off Arshdeep Singh. The Sri Lankan batter even reviewed the decision. Meanwhile, Shanaka started running as wicketkeeper Sanju Samson threw the ball at the stumps and hit them directly. However, he was deemed not out. There was a reason for that: since Shanaka had been given out caught behind and had opted for a review, the ball was considered dead from that very moment.
Arshdeep had appealed for a caught behind against Shanaka, which was why the umpire initially gave it out. UltraEdge showed a clear gap between the bat and the ball. Umpire Gazi Sohel explained the rule to Suryakumar Yadav at length, as the Indian camp looked stunned.
Opener Pathum Nissanka's magnificent hundred went in vain as India defeated Sri Lanka via a Super Over in their inconsequential Super 4s match of the Asia Cup on Friday.
In the Super Over, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh struck twice to restrict Sri Lanka to just two runs, which India skipper knocked off in the first ball.
Earlier, sent into bat, India posted 202 for five, with in-form opener Abhishek Sharma slamming a 31-ball 61 laced with eight fours and two sixes. Tilak Varma (49 not out off 34 balls), Sanju Samson (39 off 23) and Axar Patel (21 not out off 15) also made useful contributions.
In reply, Nissanka produced a brilliant 58-ball 107 but Sri Lanka were restricted to 202 for five in 20 overs. Kusal Perera chipped in with a 32-ball 58.
Kuldeep Yadav (1/31), Varun Chakaravarthy (1/31), Hardik Pandya (1/7), Arshdeep Singh (1/46) and Harshit Rana (1/54) shared the wickets for India.
Brief Scores: India: 202 for 5 in 20 overs (Abhishek Sharma 61, Tilak Varma 49 not out, Sanju Samson 39; Charith Asalanka 1/18).
Sri Lanka: 202 for 5 in 20 overs (Pathum Nissanka 107, Kusal Perera 58; Kuldeep Yadav 1/31).

Chinese Woman Dies After Stepping On Acid, Nicknamed 'Bone-Dissolving Water'
A tragic incident in China has highlighted the dangers of an acid, which is a highly corrosive chemical nicknamed "bone-dissolving water", the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported.
In the Hangzhou region, a 52-year-old woman, surnamed Tu, died from multiple organ failure just five days after stepping on a discarded container of hydrofluoric acid while walking on a hillside.
The incident happened when she came into contact with the acid while walking in a vacant lot near Xianlin Middle Road, an area left unattended.

She suffered rapid swelling, multiple organ failure, and severe electrolyte imbalance. As per the doctors, her chances of survival were slim despite the immediate response. Tu died from heart and lung failure within five days.
While speaking to the mainland media, The Paper, one doctor said, "The chances of saving her were already slim."
According to the report, her child wrote on social media: "I never got to see a miracle happen."
"My mum left us in a way we could not comprehend, and so quickly. I hope there are no accidents in heaven."

During the probe, two more bottles of the acid were found, which have now been removed. The authorities are investigating, and the site has been decontaminated.
As per the police, the acid was left behind by a janitor surnamed Ai, whose job included cleaning walls. He moved away from the area in 2015 and has since been detained. He could face up to seven years in prison for negligently releasing hazardous substances.
Hydrofluoric Acid Risks
Hydrofluoric acid, a colourless solution, can dissolve metals, glass and silicon. It can cause severe burns and deep tissue damage.
The chemical is widely used in industries like semiconductors and glass processing but remains accessible online, often with inadequate safety warnings.
Experts stress the need for extreme caution and use of protective equipment when it comes such highly corrosive chemicals. Immediate medical attention is needed in case of exposure.

Parineeti Chopra Flaunts Baby Bump Publicly For The First Time
Parineeti Chopra is embracing a new chapter in her life with grace and joy. The actress, who tied the knot with politician Raghav Chadha, has now stepped into motherhood's journey. In her latest YouTube video, Parineeti not only reintroduced her channel but also gave fans a glimpse of her radiant pregnancy glow as she showed off her baby bump for the first time.
What's Happening
- After a long pause of eight months, Parineeti has finally returned to her YouTube space. She admitted that her initial attempt at launching the channel was far from smooth, saying, "It's been 8 months... for my YouTube channel. Quite frankly, the launch happened on a grand scale, but it was a full disaster from my end. I launched and then disappeared, because I didn't know what I wanted to say through this channel."
- In the relaunch video, she experiments with different vlogging formats. At one point, she playfully took a dig at filmmaker Farah Khan with a mock cooking segment titled Pakao with Pari. All she managed to prepare was black coffee, humorously adding that Farah's cook Dilip should take over since he knows all the recipes.
- After her light-hearted attempts, Parineeti confirmed that her channel will ultimately feature plenty of music and remain true to her personality.
Background
Parineeti and Raghav Chadha announced in August that they are expecting their first child together. Sharing a heartfelt joint post on social media, the couple wrote, "Our little universe on its way. Blessed beyond measure."
The duo got married in September 2023 in a dreamy ceremony in Udaipur, attended by close friends, family, and well-known names from both cinema and politics.

Texas Bans Sharia Law After Cleric Asks Shopkeepers Not To Sell Liquor, Pork
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has said his state has banned the enforcement of Islamic Sharia law and urged residents to report any attempts to impose "Sharia compliance" on businesses or individuals.
Abbott's remarks followed a viral video from Houston showing a Muslim cleric using a loudspeaker to urge shopkeepers not to sell alcohol, pork, or lottery tickets.
The governor described the incident as harassment and said Texas would not tolerate attempts to enforce religious codes in public life.
"I signed laws that BAN Sharia Law and Sharia Compounds in Texas. No business & no individual should fear fools like this," Abbott wrote in a post on X on September 9.
"If this person, or ANYONE, attempts to impose Sharia compliance, report it to local law enforcement or the Texas Dept. of Public Safety," he added.

Texas does not have a formal "Sharia ban," but the 2017 American Laws for American Courts bill prevents courts from applying any foreign or religious code, including Sharia, if it conflicts with US law.
Muslim advocacy groups, including the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), criticised Abbott's statements as misleading, stressing that Sharia governs personal religious practice, not civil law.
Earlier this year, he opposed EPIC City, a proposed 400-acre residential and commercial development by the East Plano Islamic Center. The project included homes, schools, a mosque, and commercial facilities. Abbott claimed it could become a "Sharia zone" and ordered multiple state agencies to investigate.
Critics said the governor exaggerated the threat and warned of religious profiling.
Abbott, a Republican and ally of President Donald Trump, has frequently taken strong positions on immigration, religion, and cultural issues.

Man Berated By 'Phillies Karen' In Viral Clip Breaks Silence: 'She Yelled...'
The father who was berated by a woman at a baseball game in the USA has explained why he handed over the home run ball to her, which was supposed to be a birthday gift for his son. The man, identified as Drew Feltwell, said the woman started yelling at him and that he just wanted the 'Phillies Karen' to go away.
"I pretty much just wanted her to go away," Mr Feltwell was quoted as saying by NBC10 Philadelphia, adding that he was the first and only person to grab the ball.
"She was in the seat behind, I don't know if she was standing up. Maybe? But I was watching the ball from almost the bat to where it went into that seat and kind of jumbled around and I was already going in and coincidentally, as soon as I was going in, it stopped in one spot and I just picked it up."
As per Mr Feltwell, the woman jumped in front of him, reached for his arm and started going off, stating that it was her ball.
“I jumped out of my skin and I was like, you know, like ‘Why are you here?' you know, ‘Go away.' And she's like, ‘That's my ball! You stole out of – those are from our seats.' And I said, ‘There was nobody in that seat,' you know. She said, ‘That's from where we were sitting,' and she just went on and on.”
With a lot of eyes and cameras on him, Mr Feltwell said he had two options: whether to do something and regret the situation or be a dad and show his son, Lincoln, "how to de-escalate the situation".
“We were there to get a home run ball. I thought I had accomplished this great thing and putting [it] in his glove meant a lot and she was just so adamant and loud and yelling and persistent and I just didn't want to deal with it anymore.”

What happened?
During a Major League Baseball (MLB) game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Miami Marlins on Friday (Sept 5), Harrison Bader hit a solo home run as the ball landed in the stands of the LoanDepot Park. Mr Feltwell quickly ran across to collect the ball and gave it to Lincoln.
However, moments later, the woman charged at him, grabbed his shoulders and demanded the ball back, seemingly under the belief she was entitled to it since it was closer to her seat. The incident was caught on camera and quickly went viral as social media users called her out for being a nuisance at the ballpark.

A Marlins representative later came to the section, apologised to the boy, and gave him a "goodie bag" with various gifts.
"That was not OK," the Marlins rep said to Lincoln. "So we brought you a cool little goodie bag. I'm so sorry."
The boy also got to meet Bader after the game and received a signed bat from the player to make up for the incident.

Trump Greeted With Mixed Cheers And Boos After Delay At US Open Final
President Donald Trump attended the U.S. Open on Sunday and briefly stepped out from a luxury box to wave at a main court crowd mostly still arriving for the men's final. He drew mixed cheers and boos. Arthur Ashe stadium was only partially full and Trump's waves weren't announced beforehand. They were also brief enough so that some of those in attendance didn't notice them. The president attended as a guest of Rolex despite imposing steep tariffs on the Swiss watchmaker's home country, and organizers were seeking to keep booing of him from being seen on the TV broadcast.
Trump has built the bulk of his second term's domestic travel around attending major sports events rather than hitting the road to make policy announcements or address the kind of large rallies he so relished as a candidate.
Because of extra security screening, the final between second-seeded Carlos Alcaraz, a 22-year-old Spaniard, and No. 1 seed and defending champion Jannik Sinner, 24, of Italy, was pushed back half an hour — meaning Trump arrived more than 45 minutes before the new start time. The president was watching from Rolex's suite, and his acceptance of Rolex's invitation comes mere weeks after the Trump administration imposed a whopping 39% tariff on Swiss products.
The levy is more than 2 1/2 times higher than the one the Trump administration agreed to for European Union goods exported to the U.S. and nearly four times higher than on British exports to the U.S. It has raised questions about Switzerland's ability to compete with the 27-member bloc that it neighbors.
The White House declined to comment on Trump accepting a corporate client's invitation at the tournament, but the president has had few qualms about blurring lines between political and foreign policy decisions and efforts to boost the profits of his family business.
That includes tirelessly promoting cryptocurrency interests and luxury golf properties around the country and the world that bear his name. He announced Friday that the U.S. will use its turn hosting the Group of 20 summit in December 2026 to stage the sweeping event at Trump National Doral in South Florida.
Any negative reaction to Trump's presence won't be shown on ABC's national telecast, per standard policy, the U.S. Tennis Association says.
“We regularly ask our broadcasters to refrain from showcasing off-court disruptions,” the organization said in a statement.
As heavy rains began mostly clearing, and throngs of fans arrived for the match, no major street protests against the president could be seen from the touranment's main stadium. Attendees also steered clear of wearing any of the president's signature “Make America Great Again” caps, though.
A 58-year tennis fan originally from Turin, Italy, came from her home in the Boston area to watch the final and said that when she bought a U.S. Open cap, she went with a fuchsia-hued one so it wouldn't be mistaken for the signature darker color of MAGA hats.
“I was careful not to get the red one,” said the fan, who declined to give her name because of her employer's rules about being publicly quoted.
Attending with Trump were White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, Attorney General Pam Bondi, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, special administration envoy Steve Witkoff and Susie Wiles, the White House chief of staff.
Elsewhere in the crowd were a slew of celebrities — some of whom publicly backed then-Vice President Kamala Harris during last year's election against Trump. Among them were Pink, Bruce Springsteen, Shonda Rhimes, Michael J. Fox, Sting, Shaggy, Ben Stiller and Courtney Cox.
Trump came back to the press cabin on Air Force One during the flight to New York to note that the plane would be flying over Ashe stadium, but didn't offer any further comment.
Trump was once a U.S. Open mainstay, but hasn't attended since he was loudly booed at a quarterfinals match in September 2015, months after launching his first presidential campaign.
The Trump Organization once controlled its own U.S. Open suite, which was adjacent to the stadium's television broadcasting booth, but suspended it in 2017, during the first year of Trump's first term. The family business is now being run by Trump's sons with their father back in the White House.
Trump was born in Queens, home of the U.S. Open, and for decades was a New York-area real estate mogul and, later, a reality TV star. Attending the tournament before he was a politician, he usually sat in the suite's balcony during night matches and was frequently shown on the arena's video screens.
In recent years, however, including between his presidential terms, Trump primarily lived at his Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago.
Alcaraz said before the final that having Trump on-hand would be a privilege and “great for tennis,” but also suggested that such sentiment went for any president watching from the stands. “I don't want myself to be nervous because of it," he said.
The president has also frequently attended sporting events — where the roar of the crowd sometimes features people booing him while others cheer him.
Since returning to the White House in January and prior to Sunday's U.S Open swing, Trump went to the Super Bowl in New Orleans and the Daytona 500, as well as UFC fights in Miami and Newark, New Jersey, the NCAA wrestling championships in Philadelphia and the FIFA Club World Cup final in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Having a sitting president attend the U.S. Open hasn't happened since Bill Clinton went to the 2000 tournament, though former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, attended the event's opening night in 2023.

"Would've Scored 3000 More": Yuvraj Singh Regrets Not Playing This Sport
India's two-time World Cup-winning hero Yuvraj Singh has said golf could have helped him score "at least 3,000 more runs" in international cricket and advised his "students" Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma to take up the sport for its calming influence. Emphasizing the impact of golf on a cricketing career, former India captain Kapil Dev had earlier said he would have scored "2,000 runs extra in cricket" if he had taken up golf during his playing days.
"I agree with Kapil Paaji, he said 2,000, I would have scored 3,000 more runs," Yuvraj said in response to a question during the launch of the IGPL tour schedule on Thursday.
"Now the rules have changed in international cricket. In cricket, you don't get another opportunity. In golf, you play a bad shot, you can still hit a good shot and come back on the hole."
The 43-year-old, who played a crucial role in India's triumph at the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup, was addressing the media as a co-owner and brand ambassador of the IGPL. "If you get out, you're sitting in the room thinking about the next game. But if it was the second day, you would have just got out and played golf with your friends. You go to a game with a fresh mind. Sometimes it's good to go and play another sport and come back fresh," he said.
"So, if suppose India is playing a one-day match and there's a gap of three days, and the guy goes and plays golf, the media says that they are not practicing. So that mindset also has to change. The fresher you are, the better the performance is going to be.
"I tell all the young cricketers to try and play golf, hit the ball, see how you feel. Because sometimes too much practice is also not good for you. Sometimes when you're not scoring runs, you want to practice more, and with golf as well, you want to hit more balls. But sometimes it's good to relax."
Asked if he has told his wards—Gill and Abhishek—to play golf during cricket tournaments, Singh said: "I have told them to play golf and I encourage them to play. It's very hard to find time but I think the IPL is a good time for them to actually find time and hit some balls.
"It's up to them. Now they are superstars of the game and they have to decide what's going to help them be better. If golf can be something, then they have to decide that. But I encourage all athletes to play golf. I think it's a great way to unwind and it's great for the mind."
Will it help them? "I feel that any sport that helps you relax is going to be less taxing on the body, more fruitful for the mind. If you see the culture of golf, speaking of Australia, South Africa, England—majority of the best cricketers have played golf from a very young age.
"You see a lot of these guys actually play a lot of golf and less cricket practice during tours. You can't change something in a game in three days. But how can you recover and be mentally fresh for a game? So I just feel it's not just cricket. For any sporting person who plays any sport in the world, they should play golf because eventually it will bring out the best in them in their sport."
