Ahead of polls, NDA woos both urban & rural India

PM Modi rolled out a budget with Rs 6,000 per annum direct income transfer for small and marginal farmers, drawing largely from a scheme in Telangana. The tax liability on those with incomes up to Rs 5 lakh was cut to zero. BJP with its budget countered Congress' farm loan waivers in three states and the promise of a minimum income guarantee.
