"Learn From Him": Brook Urges England To Follow Evergreen Root's Example

England white-ball captain Harry Brook has urged his side to learn from Joe Root as they seek to complete a one-day international series win against top-ranked India. Root followed his unbeaten 76 in England's defeat in the first ODI with a superbly-paced 99 not out as they won in Cardiff on Thursday to level the three-match series ahead of Sunday's finale at Lord's. England's victory in Cardiff followed a run of 16 defeats in their previous 20 ODIs. That dismal sequence has raised questions about how competitive a team seemingly wedded to aggressive batting will be at next year's 50-over World Cup in southern Africa.

The 35-year-old Root -- who has scored 7,752 runs in 191 ODIs with 20 hundreds -- said he sympathised with younger players coming into the England side as changes to the domestic schedule meant they do not have "the wealth of experience and understanding of 50-over cricket".

But Brook, a Yorkshire team-mate of Root insisted even the very best players are always looking to improve.

"I personally think you're always learning," Brook told reporters at Lord's on Saturday.

"He (Root) has played nearly 200 ODIs, he's still trying to learn, he's still trying to get better as a player and he's England's greatest-ever batter."

When it was suggested to Brook that England had become over-reliant on Root, he said: "Root has been such a good player for so many years and it's awesome to have him on the side.

"We probably have depended on him quite a little bit in recent times in ODI cricket and Test cricket.

"Hopefully, the boys can learn from what he's doing, myself included, and realise how easy he's making batting look, to be able to just rotate the strike.

"If we can add a little bit of Joe Root into our batting as a collective team, then we'll definitely be in some strong positions."

England are searching for a new Test coach. Brendon McCullum, who is still in charge of their white-ball teams, was sacked from the role after a recent 2-1 series loss against New Zealand.

That reverse meant England had lost seven of their last nine Tests.

Asked what England needed from their new Test coach, Brook said: "That's a good question. That's up for the coach to decide.

"We want to put ourselves in strong positions as much as we possibly can to be able to dominate the game.

"Test cricket is a long game, five days, and we could probably be slightly more consistent than we have been over the last couple of years."

"Disgrace": Internet, England Fume As Argentina Escape Despite Nasty Tackle

Argentina and England players were involved in a heated altercation in the opening minutes of their blockbuster FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-final clash in Atlanta. England midfielder Elliot Anderson had a duel with Lionel Messi, after which Messi's teammate Enzo Fernandez put in a strong challenge on Anderson. The challenge led to a fiery exchange, with multiple players from both teams getting involved. In particular, England star midfielder Jude Bellingham appeared extremely unhappy with Enzo's challenge on Anderson. The referee then seemingly had an intense chat with Enzo but did not issue a card to the Argentine midfielder. (Argentina vs England Live Updates)

The incident, which happened less than three minutes after kickoff, divided opinion among fans on social media.

England and Argentina made key changes for their World Cup semi-final in Atlanta on Wednesday.

England coach Thomas Tuchel called in Morgan Rogers in place of Noni Madueke on the right wing and also handed starts to Reece James and Djed Spence in defence.

Ezri Konsa and Nico O'Reilly were benched.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni made just one change, picking Giuliano Simeone in midfield ahead of Rodrigo De Paul.

England: Jordan Pickford; Reece James, John Stones, Marc Guehi, Djed Spence; Declan Rice, Elliot Anderson, Jude Bellingham; Morgan Rogers, Anthony Gordon, Harry Kane.

Argentina: Emiliano Martinez; Nahuel Molina, Cristian Romero, Lisandro Martinez, Nicolas Tagliafico; Giuliano Simeone, Leandro Paredes, Enzo Fernandez, Alexis Mac Allister; Lionel Messi, Julian Alvarez.

The game sees England and Argentina resume one of the fiercest rivalries in international football.

The two teams meet in Atlanta, and the winner will play Spain in the final in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Sunday.

"I mean, the two shirts are just iconic, and the historic matches are iconic," Tuchel said.

The World Cup rivalry between the nations dates back to 1962, but it was England's 1-0 win in the quarter-finals four years later that saw it intensify. Argentina captain Antonio Rattin, whose death was announced on Saturday, was sent off in a bad-tempered match. England went on to win the World Cup for the first, and still the only, time in its history.

Twenty years later in Mexico, Diego Maradona scored the infamous "Hand of God" goal that helped Argentina to a 2-1 win in the quarter-finals on the way to becoming world champions for a second time.

That game also saw Maradona score what many believe to be the greatest World Cup goal ever when he dribbled the ball from the halfway line before beating England goalkeeper Peter Shilton.

"That will be forever in our hearts. It was just such a beautiful goal," Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni said. "Anybody who loves football will remember that in the best way possible."

England felt aggrieved again in 1998 when David Beckham was sent off for kicking out at Argentina midfielder Diego Simeone before England lost the round-of-16 game on penalties.

Beckham got his revenge four years later by scoring a penalty in a 1-0 win that contributed to Argentina being eliminated at the group stage.

Given the heated rivalry, Tuchel has tried to manage the emotions of his players ahead of the semi-final.

"If a fixture provides so many iconic moments, you cannot just say it's another football match, but as a coach we do exactly that," he said. "We don't speak about the historic events. We don't speak about the iconic moments."

Neither team has had a smooth ride to the semi-finals.

Argentina survived scares against Cape Verde and Egypt earlier in the knockout rounds and needed extra time to beat 10-man Switzerland 3-1 in the quarter-finals.

England had to rally for wins against Congo and Norway after going a goal down. It also endured a physically exhausting game played at altitude and, after being reduced to 10 men, beat co-host Mexico 3-2 in the round of 16.

The seemingly ageless Lionel Messi has been Argentina's talisman once again, scoring eight goals and providing crucial assists.

England has relied on its big hitters, Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham. Both have six goals so far, with Bellingham scoring twice in each of England's last two games.

Zareen Khan Reacts To Inappropriate "Try The Dress" Remark In Viral Clip

Actress Zareen Khan recently lost her temper at an event and snapped at the photographers present. Things heated up when one of the photographers asked her to "try the dress", and she did not take it well. She immediately told them curtly to stay within their limits and that she would not tolerate such behaviour.

In a video that has now gone viral, Zareen Khan is seen attending the launch of a clothing brand in Mumbai. While she was showcasing a denim jacket and a dress, a photographer asked her to "try the dress".

Zareen Khan was visibly irritated as she replied, "Tum logon ke saamne? Woh nahi ho raha. (In front of everyone? That's not happening.)"

She added, "Faltugiri ki baatein mat karo mere saath, because I am not the one who is going to take that s**t, okay? Hadd mein rehna, sab ke sab. (Don't talk such nonsense to me because I'm not someone who's going to tolerate that, okay? Stay within your limits - all of you.)"

When Zareen Khan Hit Back At 'Obscene Comments' On Her Posts

Zareen Khan has always called out trolls where need be. Last year in October, the actress expressed her frustration over the vulgar emoticons and messages that appear in the comments section of her posts as soon as they go live, and asked in her video whether these were real people or bots.

In the video shared by Zareen Khan, she asked, "Hello everyone. Is this happening to you too? The moment I post something, such comments start flooding in. People post water and peach emojis; some write 'service available', 'boys come over', or even 'need a boyfriend, alone at home'."

She continued, "It doesn't matter what I share; people find a way to post disgusting remarks. Some comments are so filthy, it's shocking."

The caption of her post read, "Yeh kya chakkar hai.... Koi samjhaao please. Aur kya aap logon ke saath bhi yeh ho raha hai? Let me know in the comments." (What is this about? Please, someone explain it to me.)

How Fans Came To Support

Zareen Khan's fans soon took to the comments section to reveal that they, too, have dealt with similar online abuse. They urged her to ignore the trolls.

One person wrote, "People have lost all sense of decency. They write anything just for attention."

Someone else added, "This happens to everyone. Best is to ignore and move on."

About Zareen Khan

Zareen Khan made her Bollywood debut opposite Salman Khan in Veer in 2010, and went on to star in films such as Housefull 2, co-starring Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Asin, Jacqueline Fernandez and Riteish Deshmukh. She also featured in Hate Story 3, Aksar 2 and the horror film 1921. Zareen appeared in a song in Salman Khan's 2011 film Ready and has also starred in Punjabi films like Jatt James Bond and Daaka.

Norway Star Refuses To Pass Ball To Haaland In 'Biggest Blunder' Of World Cup

The FIFA World Cup 2026 witnessed what was arguably its biggest blunder of the tournament during the quarter-final clash between England and Norway on Saturday, after Alexander Sorloth refused to pass the ball to the team's top scorer, Erling Haaland. Right on the cusp of the half-time whistle, Norway found themselves in a brilliant counter-attacking opportunity. Already leading 1-0, they had a golden 2v1 situation, with John Stones as the only England defender positioned between the Norwegian attackers and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. Instead of squaring the ball to Haaland for an easy finish, Sorloth opted to go for glory himself. The selfish decision squandered the opportunity, and the duo was quickly surrounded and closed down by five recovering England players.

Sorloth attempted to dribble past a couple of defenders to unleash a shot, but his weak effort failed to even reach Pickford in the England goal. Haaland, visibly disappointed by his teammate's decision, did not hesitate to express his frustration on the pitch. Here's the video of what many people are calling 'biggest blunder of the World Cup' on social media:

Had Sorloth passed the ball to Haaland-the team's most in-form player heading into this crucial England clash-Norway could have doubled their lead, making a potential English comeback significantly more difficult. In fact, it was just minutes after the incident that England scored their equaliser through Jude Bellingham.

The nature of the game prompted even England head coach Thomas Tuchel to admit that his team were 'lucky' to get the win.

“We made life very, very difficult for ourselves today," Tuchel said in an on-field interview moments after his team secured the World Cup semi-final berth. "The result is fantastic. The last four is amazing, but I'm not happy with the performance. The commitment is there, but it made life very, very difficult for us in the way we played, how we played, sloppy, lots of safety, not fast enough, not enough. We were lucky today."

England haven't reached the World Cup final in 60 years and to make that dream a reality, Tuchel wants his team to get better.

"We need to get better," Tuchel said. "Now it's celebration, and now it's taking it all in. We have three days," he concluded.

Which City Is Known As The Kebab Capital Of India?

Kebabs are one of those foods that people never seem to get tired of. From busy street stalls to family celebrations, they have a place in food cultures across India. But there is one city where kebabs are more than just a popular dish - they are a part of the city's identity. Shaped by centuries of culinary tradition, royal influence and generations of skilled cooks, its kebab culture continues to draw food lovers from far and wide. So, which Indian city has earned the title of India's Kebab Capital? Let's find out.

Lucknow Is Widely Known As The Kebab Capital Of India?

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Lucknow's reputation is rooted in its rich Awadhi culinary heritage, which flourished under the Nawabs of Awadh. The royal kitchens employed expert cooks, known as rakabdars, who spent years perfecting dishes that balanced flavour, texture and aroma.

Unlike many kebab traditions that focus heavily on spice and smoke, Lucknow's style emphasises refinement. Meat is minced, marinated and cooked with remarkable precision to create kebabs that are soft, fragrant and layered in flavour. Techniques such as slow cooking and charcoal grilling remain central to the city's culinary identity even today.

The Nawabi Story Behind Lucknow's Famous Kebabs

No conversation about Lucknow's kebabs is complete without revisiting the Nawabi era. Food historians widely associate the rise of Awadhi kebabs with the royal courts of Awadh, where elaborate meals were considered an art form. The Nawabs encouraged innovation in the kitchen, giving chefs the freedom to experiment with ingredients, cooking methods and spice combinations.

Over time, this resulted in a remarkable range of kebabs that differed in texture, preparation and flavour profile. The emphasis was never just on feeding people - it was about creating a memorable dining experience. This royal influence continues to shape the city's food culture centuries later. Walk through the older parts of Lucknow, and many recipes still trace their origins to these historic kitchens.

The Kebabs You Must Try In Lucknow

Lucknow's kebab scene is vast, but a few varieties have achieved near-legendary status.

1. Galouti Kebab

The city's most famous offering, galouti kebabs are known for their incredibly soft texture. Finely minced meat and aromatic spices come together to create a kebab that almost melts on the tongue.

2. Kakori Kebab

Originating from Kakori, a town near Lucknow, these kebabs are celebrated for their delicate texture and subtle seasoning. They are often considered one of the finest examples of Awadhi cuisine.

3. Shami Kebab

Made with minced meat and lentils, shami kebabs offer a hearty yet balanced bite and remain a popular choice across North India.

4. Boti Kebab

These succulent pieces of marinated meat are grilled over charcoal, developing a smoky flavour that makes them a favourite among kebab lovers.

A visit to Lucknow is incomplete without exploring its iconic food neighbourhoods.

1. Chowk

One of the oldest parts of the city, Chowk is often the first stop for visitors looking to experience authentic Awadhi food. The bustling lanes are lined with establishments that have served kebabs for generations.

2. Aminabad

Another historic food hub, Aminabad combines old-world charm with some of the city's most beloved eateries. It remains a favourite among locals and tourists alike.

3. Hazratganj And Gomti Nagar

For those who prefer a more contemporary dining experience, these areas offer a mix of established restaurants and newer concepts serving traditional Awadhi dishes alongside modern interpretations.

Lucknow's UNESCO Recognition Puts A Global Spotlight On Its Food

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Lucknow's culinary legacy has earned international recognition as well. The city was added to UNESCO's Creative Cities Network as a Creative City of Gastronomy, a designation that acknowledges its rich food heritage, centuries-old Awadhi traditions and vibrant culinary ecosystem in October 2025. UNESCO specifically highlighted Lucknow's renowned cuisine, including its kebabs and distinctive culinary practices.

More Than Just A Kebab Destination

Although kebabs are the city's biggest culinary ambassadors, they tell only part of the story. Lucknow is equally known for dishes such as Awadhi biryani, nihari, kulcha, sheermal and a vibrant street-food culture. What truly sets the city apart is its ability to preserve tradition while keeping its food culture alive and relevant. Generations of chefs, restaurateurs and home cooks continue to protect techniques and recipes that have shaped Indian cuisine.

Many Indian cities serve exceptional kebabs, but few can match the historical depth, craftsmanship and culinary legacy found in Lucknow. From the royal kitchens of the Nawabs to the crowded lanes of Chowk, the city's kebab culture remains one of India's most enduring food traditions. That blend of history, technique and flavour is exactly why Lucknow continues to wear its title as the Kebab Capital of India with pride.

Maharashtra Invokes MCOCA, To Treat Gutka Manufacturers As Organised Crime Syndicates

Maharashtra's Food and Drug Administration has invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act against Gutka manufacturers, treating the banned substance's production and sale as organised crime rather than a routine regulatory violation.

FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe said Gutka has been prohibited in Maharashtra since 2004 under Section 30 of the Food Safety Act. "Once it is prohibited, its manufacture, transport, storage, and sale cannot take place," he said.

Mundhe said the decision to invoke MCOCA, a law generally used against terrorists and organised crime syndicates, followed the discovery of a wide network of individuals working together across the supply chain. "There are multiple players, manufacturers, transporters, sellers, working in a nexus. It is organised crime," he said.

ALSO READ: Maharashtra FDA Cracking Down On Hospitals That Force Patients to Buy Exclusive Prescriptions, Says Tukaram Mundhe

MCOCA applies to prohibited activities involving punishment of more than three years, some of which attract life imprisonment, and requiring more than two people to be involved. Mundhe said the FDA has already registered more than 700 FIRs related to Gutka violations across the state, forming the basis for invoking the stringent law.

The FDA is now compiling individual dossiers on everyone linked to the trade, from manufacturers to transporters and sellers, as it builds cases under MCOCA. Mundhe said the objective is to eliminate the substance entirely from the state. "We are creating dossiers on every individual involved, and once ready, we will go to any extent to ensure not a single gram of Gutka is available in Maharashtra," he said.

The crackdown on Gutka forms part of a broader enforcement push by the FDA under Mundhe, who has also targeted milk and dairy products, the hotel and restaurant industry, and spurious drugs since taking charge of the department. He said the department's approach stems from poor implementation of existing food safety law over the years. The Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006, along with regulations framed in 2011 and 2018, has suffered from weak enforcement, prompting the FDA to take strict action across all sectors it regulates, including Gutka, dairy, and pharmaceuticals.

Mundhe said the scale of Maharashtra's food business ecosystem, with more than 11 lakh registered food business operators in the state, underlines the need for firm regulatory action against banned and harmful products moving through informal networks. He maintained that enforcement under his tenure has been proportionate rather than excessive, given the health risks posed by unchecked distribution of prohibited substances such as Gutka.

Iran War Backlash? Trump's Approval Slips As Voters Question $67 Billion Cost

US President Donald Trump's approval rating has slipped to 36%, while a majority of Americans believe the conflict with Iran was not worth its economic cost, according to a Financial Times poll.

The survey found that 58% of US voters said the war was not economically justified, as the White House sought $67 billion from Congress to cover war-related expenses. Around 40% of respondents said the conflict left the US in a weaker position than before, while 31% believed it strengthened Washington's standing.

Voters also expressed skepticism over the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the US and Iran. About 66% said the agreement would make little or no difference to peace in the Middle East, with some expecting it could fuel further conflict.

The poll showed Trump's approval rating down two percentage points from the previous survey. Democrats held a lead in overall support, with 44% backing the party versus 38% for Republicans.

However, Republicans appeared more motivated to vote ahead of the November midterm elections, with three-quarters of Republican respondents reporting a high likelihood of voting.

On foreign policy, 53% of respondents said the US should remain in NATO, while 23% supported leaving the alliance following the Iran conflict.

The findings come as Trump attends the NATO summit in Turkey, where he has renewed criticism of some European allies over their stance during the Iran war.

Speaking alongside NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, Trump said he persuaded Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to stay out of the conflict.

"He was a prime candidate to go into the war with Iran, maybe on the Iran side, because he's not a big fan of Israel," Trump said. "However, after I asked him to stay out of the war, he did so."

India-UK Trade Pact: FinMin Notifies Rules For Origin Of Goods

The Finance Ministry has issued the rules for determination of origin of goods under the India-UK comprehensive economic and trade agreement (CETA), news agency PTI reported citing a notification.

The India-UK trade agreement will come into force from July 15 onwards.

A certificate of origin is a crucial document needed for exports to avail duty benefits under India's trade agreements with partner countries. It is important to establish the origin of goods to make sure goods from other countries do not wrongfully get benefits of preferential tariff under trade agreements between two countries.

In a notification, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) said entities authorised by the two countries are permitted to issue these certificates in their respective countries.

"These rules may be called the Customs Tariff (Determination of Origin of Goods under Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement between India and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) Rules, 2026. They shall come into force on the 15th July, 2026," the report quoted the notification.

The trade agreement permits duty-free access for 99% of India's exports to the UK, covering nearly the entire trade basket. It is expected to open new opportunities for labour-intensive industries such as textiles, marine products, leather, footwear, sports goods, toys, and gems and jewellery, alongside fast-growing sectors including engineering goods, auto components, and organic chemicals.

The bilateral trade between India and the UK rose 8.62% to $ 25.12 billion, including exports worth $13.44 billion and $11.68 billion as imports in 2025-26, up from $23.13 billion in 2024-25.

In the last fiscal, India reported a trade surplus of $ 1.76 billion.

Rajat Mohan, Managing Partner, AMRG Global, said the notification prescribing the Rules of Origin under the CETA is a crucial step towards operationalising the pact in a transparent and effective manner.

ALSO READ: India-UK FTA To Come Into Force On July 15, 'Massive Tariff Cuts' To Roll Out

"While the agreement offers significant tariff advantages, these benefits will now be available only to goods that genuinely satisfy the prescribed origin criteria. The framework strengthens the integrity of the FTA by preventing misuse through third-country routing and ensuring that concessions accrue only to legitimate manufacturers and exporters," Mohan told PTI.

Mohan said that businesses should proactively review their supply chains, value addition, sourcing patterns and documentation, as compliance with the rules of origin will be as important as the tariff concessions themselves.

"It's Going To Be My Last WC": Ronaldo Drops Bombshell Ahead Of Spain Clash

Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that FIFA World Cup 2026 will be his last World Cup. Speaking to the press ahead of Portugal's Round of 16 match against Spain, Ronaldo was asked about his international future. Responding to that, he declared that this is his last World Cup. Ronaldo, 41, is playing his sixth World Cup in the ongoing edition, in which he has scored three goals, including his very first in the knockout stage. Overall, Ronaldo has scored 11 World Cup goals in his career.

"I want to enjoy it as much as possible, because it will be my last World Cup, yes. But I hope that tomorrow won't be my last game in the World Cup," Ronaldo said, as per OneFootball.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who has started all four of Portugal's matches at the tournament and scored three goals, also dismissed repeated questions about retirement, insisting his focus remains solely on helping the national team.

"I'm always committed, body and soul, to helping the National Team. Whether I'm playing or not, I'll always have an important role," he continued.

"I'll finish [retire] when I want to, not when you want me to. It's a waste of time to keep asking that question. But I don't want to draw attention to that. The most important thing is tomorrow," he added.

Despite acknowledging that this will be his final World Cup, Ronaldo made it clear Portugal have arrived with ambitions of lifting the trophy.

"If we didn't have the idea that we could win the World Cup, we wouldn't be here. It's been a beautiful experience. We've improved game by game," he said.

"We know it's a competition where it's impossible to play well in every game, and it's not easy for anyone; just look at who's already been eliminated. I see the team as calm; we've trained well, we've prepared well," said Ronaldo.

Not Sooryavanshi, Youngest Debutant Is From Pakistan At 14 Years, 227 Days

Indian cricket's latest poster boy, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, on Saturday ended days of anxious waiting for his international debut. When India vice-captain Tilak Varma handed him the cap in the pre-match team huddle, a new chapter began in Indian cricket. At 15 years and 99 days, the boy wonder from Bihar's Samastipur district became India's youngest debutant in international cricket, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who had held the record for nearly 37 years.

However, Sooryavanshi is not the youngest player to debut in international cricket. That distinction belongs to Pakistan's Hasan Raza. Raza made his Test debut at 14 years and 227 days against Zimbabwe in Faisalabad in 1996. He made his ODI debut at 14 years and 233 days against the same opponents in Quetta. Sooryavanshi is now the second-youngest men's international debutant. Raza went on to play seven Tests and 16 ODIs. He did not leave a big impact.

Sooryavanshi was named in India's T20I squads for the tours of Ireland and England, as well as for the Asian Games. He became the youngest-ever player to be picked for the Indian national side, breaking a 36-year-old record held by Sachin Tendulkar.

Notably, Sooryavanshi earned his maiden national call-up following a sensational IPL 2026 campaign with the Rajasthan Royals, where he amassed 776 runs at a staggering strike rate of 237.30, including a century and five fifties. His explosive season saw him finish as the tournament's leading run-scorer while smashing a record 72 sixes.

The youngster also swept multiple post-season honours, including the Orange Cap, Most Valuable Player, Emerging Player, Super Striker and Super Sixes awards.

In the recent tri-series in Sri Lanka, featuring Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A, Sooryavanshi scored 211 runs in five innings at an average of 42.20 and a strike rate of nearly 201. His best score was 94, with his only fifty coming in the final. He also smashed the fastest fifty in List A cricket, reaching the milestone in just 11 balls against Sri Lanka A.

In eight first-class matches, Sooryavanshi has scored 207 runs at an average of 17.25, with one fifty in 12 innings and a best score of 93. His Youth Test record is better, with 331 runs in six matches and 10 innings at an average of 33.10, including two centuries and one fifty, with a best score of 113.

In List A cricket, he has scored 564 runs in 13 matches at an average of 43.38 and a strike rate of 176.80, with one century and two fifties. His highest score is 190.

He is India's leading run-scorer in Youth ODIs, with 1,412 runs in 25 matches at an average of 56.48 and a strike rate of 165.72. He has scored four centuries and seven fifties, with a highest score of 175.

His first U19 World Cup appearance this year saw him help India win the title while finishing as the tournament's leading run-scorer with 439 runs in seven innings at an average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.49. He scored one century and three fifties, with a best score of 175. He also smashed 30 sixes, the most by a batter in the tournament's history.

In 34 T20 matches, Sooryavanshi has scored 1,477 runs at an average of 44.75 and a strike rate of 220.44, with four centuries and six fifties.

So far in his IPL career, Sooryavanshi has scored 1,028 runs in 23 matches at an average of 44.69 and a strike rate of 228.95, with two centuries and six fifties. His highest score is 103, and he has smashed 96 sixes.

France will go toe-to-toe against Paraguay in their Round of 16 tie of FIFA World Cup 2026 on Saturday. The winner of this tie will be taking on the winner of match between Morocco and Canada.

France have been one of the standout teams at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, cruising through the tournament with a perfect record so far. Les Bleus opened their campaign with a convincing 3-1 victory over Senegal before easing past Iraq 3-0. They then wrapped up the group stage in emphatic fashion with a commanding 4-1 win over Norway.

The two-time world champions carried that momentum into the Round of 32, where they took on Sweden. Didier Deschamps' side produced another dominant display, with captain Kylian Mbappé scoring twice and Bradley Barcola adding the third in a comfortable 3-0 victory to seal France's place in the Round of 16.

Kane's Viral Video With Maradona Resurfaces, Day After He Surpassed Pele

Harry Kane turned out to be England's saviour in a comeback win over DR Congo in a Round of 32 clash. England staged a second-half fightback at Atlanta Stadium, with Kane scoring twice in 11 minutes to overturn Brian Cipenga's early strike and set up a last-16 tie with Mexico. He headed home from close range to level the tie in the 75th minute before a ferocious drive four minutes from time sparked jubilant celebrations. With his team teetering on the brink and the Central Africans dreaming of causing a historic upset, Kane stepped up to deliver the goods yet again.

Kane has now netted 13 World Cup finals goals, climbing above Pele and drawing level with Just Fontaine, who scored all of his in a single tournament in 1958. The England ace stands behind five legendary names in the all-time scoring charts: Lionel Messi (19), Kylian Mbappe (18), Miroslav Klose (16), Ronaldo Nazario (15), and Gerd Muller (14).

After his heroics for England against DR Congo, an old video of him with Argentine legend Diego Maradona resurfaced. In the video, Maradona can be heard telling Kane: "Don't always go near post with your shots. Go across goal sometimes. You know why? Goalkeepers watch you on TV all the time."

He became the first player to score twice in a World Cup knockout match for England since Gary Lineker against Cameroon in the 1990 quarter-finals. Head coach Thomas Tuchel unsurprisingly heaped praise on Kane. "Harry is our captain. He's our leader. He decides football matches with unbelievable finishes and did it here twice. The second one was just a brilliant goal."

Quizzed about the string of superstar sharpshooters who are setting this year's FIFA World Cup alight, from Kane to Mbappe, Erling Haaland and Messi, the German tactician pointed to their predatory instincts as a common denominator: "They're all sharks. If they smell blood, they come and score."

Midfielder Declan Rice was equally effusive in his praise for his captain. "He's just ridiculous; he's got 72 goals this season, I think - that's just not normal. Those are ridiculous numbers. He's a proper leader, a captain. He trains every day and gets on with everyone in the group. When you have someone who can win a game for you like that... That second goal, he just reverse-whips it into the top corner, and it was ridiculous to see. What a player. We're very lucky to have him."
